So you have a new alternator. I S IT CHARGING ? If the answer is yes , and the battery still dies, I would say there is a 12 volt drain in the electrical system. Hope this helps

You have classic symptoms of a failing BCM (body control module), it is the brain off all of these systems, the dealer has the correct test equip. to address this issue in a timely manner, outside shops are lost on these kinks of modern automotive electronic control systems, they guess and cost you allot of money.

A battery can read 12 volts yet be weak in cold cranking amps, try a jumpstart and if that works have your battery load tested. Im betting your gonna find the battery fails the load test, meaning it needs to be replaced..

SOURCE: dash says battery not charging

Alternator is what charges the battery. The alternator isn't putting out enough of amps to charge your battery and you will get a light or gauge reading that the voltage is low.

charging maybe but what is the condition of the battery, will it hold the charge? Sounds like you need a new battery. Check that the cells have a specific gravity within specified range for a healthy battery. Check battery output essentially.... but it does sound like you need a new battery.

I have seen this problem on v-8 engines but not on the v-6 and the defect I saw was not the result of a gear change. The defect I witnessed would disconnect the charging system even at 70 MPH and if you did not notice it, the battery would eventually run down until the engine quit. The battery saver feature is made to prevent a large drain from running down your battery. This happens several ways. If the charging circuit is working too hard it is identified as a drain and disconnected. You need to charge the battery independent of the vehicle and then try to return the vehicle to service. Or check to see if the battery is bad.

In short, today's charging system is not the same as in the old days where once your engine starts you can fully recharge a discharged battery. (Like after a jump start). The alternators are not made to recharge a battery from a 10% charge or they can overheat. I witnessed a low battery start to charge after a jump start and it automatically disconnected within 5 minutes of the engine running. This gave the owner no other option but to charge or replace the battery.

Battery not charging car is dead and will not start

Starting with the battery light, the warning light means the alternator is not charging the battery. It could be a faulty alternator, or a problem with the wiring between the battery and the alternator.
Normally you can drive a vehicle for several miles on the battery alone.
If you have charged the battery and it checks out ok, you would need to check the wiring from the battery to the alternator and to the fuse box for problems.

check the connection on your battery terminal ends. if they are loose or corroded that could explain the intermittent no spark. also could be a short somewhere but id check the terminals first. I had that problem once and the car did all sorts of weird things. airbag light, check engine light, randomly wouldnt start until i would mess with the battery.

You need to check the charging system. Take a volt OHM meter and go to the positive and then the negative posts. It will tell you how many volts it is putting out. If it is not charging at least 13.9 volts, then you bought a faulty alternator. If the alternator is good then check the belts to make sure they are tight enough. When you push on the belt at about 3 inches from the alternator it should not give more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch. If it does move more, then tighten the belts. If it is a V belt, just tighten the alternator. If a serpentine belt, check the belt tensioner and belt routing to make sure it is on right. The diagram should be under the hood.
