Question about 2000 Alfa Romeo 156
I want to reset error codes on OBD / ECU of my 156 after I replaced O2 probe. Does someone have a way to do this without any OBD tools. I read something about disconnecting battery but this resets the ECU but not the Error codes Plz advice
You should be able to reset the codes by unplugging the battery for a full minute. Make sure to remove both sides, Starting with the negative side (black), then the positive side (red) It resets the ecu, which sets it back to default, erases the memory/ codes. After one minute time has passed reinstall the battery terminals starting with the positive(red) side first then the negative (black). If you start the car and the code remains then you may have installed a faulty part, rare, but it does happen (quality control isn't all that great in china). Recheck to make the same code is being thrown, because you may have another issue going on.

SOURCE: have an error code that
04433 code does not exist, check if the code is corresponding to one of the numbers listed below.
P0433 Heated Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
Test O2 sensor and replace O2 sensor or Cat converter.
P0443 EVAP Emission Control System Purge Valve Circuit- Electrical Fault in Circuit
Replace the purge valve or repair wiring. Check also fuel tank cap and ensure you did not overfill.

I just bought a '99 156 & had the same problem. As long as you have the 4 digit code then all you have to do is drive around for an hour (time the 60 mins!!) & providing you have switched the stereo "on" at the beginning the " - - - - " will appear on the front at 60mins. Then just type in the digits! The Alfa has this "anti theft" device on the stereo which also means every time the battery is disconnected you have to drive around for an hour before you do it again!

Testimonial: "Thanks . just as you say ,ive fixed the problem"
You may have a cracked head or possibly cracked block as well. Did you have the head pressure tested when you pulled it off? All of those will allow coolant to seep into the compustion chamber.
