Question about 2007 Honda Accord Sedan

1 Answer

I have a 2007 Honda Accord EX. The other day I was leaving work and the car wouldn't start! It wasn't turning over or anything! All sorts of crazy things started to happen. That seat belt warning sound kept beeping, all the lights on the dash board lit up, you could hear the CDs moving in the CD player and the craziest part is when I took the key out of the dashboard all of this stuff still continued to happen. It's like the car was posessed or something. So I called the dealer and they said that I should reset it so he told me to stand outside and put the key on the lock and see if it locked or unlocked the doors but it wouldn't do anything and while I was doing this the beeping seat belt noise kept going off inside the car and he could hear it and he asked me if I was sure the key wasn't in the ignition and I assued him the keys were in my hand. He said that's weird and he coudn't figure it out so he said to have it towed to them. I called a tow truck and as I was waiting one of my co-workers came out and offered to give me a jump start. I didn't think it would work but I figured why not try. And sure enough it worked. So I drove to Autozone to have the battery tested and the reading kept going up & down but he said I don't need a new one. A couple days later I took it Sears to have the battery tested again and they too said it was fine. The guy tech told me that Honda has been having a lot of problems with their computers lately and that his parents both have Accords and had the same problem and they went to the dealer and they refreshed the computer. Has anyone ever heard of this? I don't know what to do. I haven't had any starting problems snce this incident but I don't want something to go wrong later as a result of this first incident. I'm going to the dealer for an oil change on Saturday so I plan to tell them about the problem I had but I feel like since the problem isn't there now they won't want to even look into it. Has anyone had this problem? Can you please offer me some advise?

Well, I have heard of that before, but there is a million guesses for it. A good place to start would be reset the computer. It's not hard to do. Simply take the negative battery terminal off for about 15 min adn then reinstall. Then take it for a drive. This will wipe the stored information in the computer and reset to factory settings. then mention it at the oil change and see what they say. hope this helps

2000 accord alternator

you are just guessing, good luck there are 3000 parts in the car.
first off , you did post year,(goog), and accord but not the sub models
23 total, EX.LX.DX. and others.
you did not post the country you are in or the engine type opted
for your when sold new.
world wide, they had (wiki lists them all) engines.......
1.8 L F18B I4 (CD3)
2.0 L F20B I4 (CD4)
2.0 L F20B3 I4 (CD9)
2.2 L F22A3 I4 (CD2)
2.2 L F22B I4 (CD5, CD7)
2.2 L F22B1 I4 (CD5, CD7)
2.2 L F22B2 I4 (CD5, CD7)
2.2 L H22A I4 (CD6, CD8, CF2) 2.7 L C27A4 V6 (CE6)
your car has one of these.
2.3L I4 VTEC
or the
3.0L J30A1 V6 200 hp (150 kW)

now back to those symptoms. (no out door temperatures stated, -50F Alaska or 80F Key West?)
1: wont start. (50 causes there are) less than 3000 ... for sure...
2: but you said the cranking was slow and in same breath, battery is not weak, this is key ,and contradictory.
a: if battery stays at 10v cranking its not week but if less IT IS.
b: if battery was good, and crank rpm below 250rpm then there are
other reasons, weak starter, one cylinder in engine, flooded with water. or engine seizures.... bad starter, etc.

sadly you did not try a JUMPER cable jump start to prove
the battery is car is good or bad. off a running other good car.
if it started ok, that is cranked ok we would know your battery
is bad or only just discharged.
and if it cranked ok wed know the engine was not seized and the starter is in fact good. all that from just a jump, amazing huh?

if you can get past robust cranking we can work no starts.
no starts are a total different thing,
Good engine, good EFI (and spark)

cranking is a unique system on the car, and most be dealt with at its own level.
but do tell us what you are driving, for better answers
the above is just basics.

1988 lxi honda accord battery drains overnight

Just a couple problems I've had. dome light left on due to faulty door open switch, spot light charger or equipment left plugged or wired to battery, lately I thought I had a bad battery but I just need to clean the terminal connections. One more thing if your car is running you can pull the negative cable off the battery. If the car dies your alternator could be the problem. If you have a light in the trunk or under the hood you could pull the bulb out to make sure you don't have a faulty switch turning them on. These are kind of simple and that is the way I start out.

1993 honda accord ex drove in rain belt squeeled

Sounds like maybe the ECU had taken in some water. Is your ECM located behind the engine on the firewall? There are two large fuses located on the passenger side wheel well in the engine bay. They are two large (2" plastic covers) over them.
