Question about 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS
Check to make sure that the battery is not defective. 12.5 volts . Make sure your connections are clean and tight, but do not over tighten or you may strip out the battery terminal, and then you will have to purchase a new battery. Check your fuses in the engine compartment either on the fender or the firewall. If everything checks out then check the connection to the started make sure you are getting power down there. 12.5 off battery lead. If all else has checked out okay, then i can only assume that the solenoid to the starter has gone bad, either replace it or more importantly replace the entire starter. not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition
coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.
