SOURCE: 2004 colorado code p0172
check your gas cap. If you fill your gas while the vehicle is running, it will also cause your light to come on. Go to OReilys or Autozone and they will shut it off for free and tell you the problem

p0172 is--system to rich ( bank 1). an oxygen sensor on bank 1, detected a rich condition ( to little oxygen in exhaust ) v6-v8 - v10 engines, bank 1 is the side of the engine that has # 1 cylinder. causes could be a vacuum leak in a hose, a dirty or bad maf sensor, or fuel pressure or delivery problems.

check for a broken vacuum hose or vacuum fitting(s). you can use a can of spray carb cleaner. while running the engine use the spray to test hoses and fittings. give a little squirt to suspected areas. The idle speed will change when you find a vacuum leak. pay particular attention to the hose to the MAP sensor. There may be a problem with the elelctrical connection to the map sensor, or the sensor itself may be bad.

First you disengage the Caps Lock. Then you read this article:
I would start with the easiest which would be the MAF sensor. Disconnect it and make sure the contacts are clean, then reconnect and make sure it is secure. Then clean the MAF.
