Yes you can disconnect the cable and shift it manually. How ever if its all wheel drive you can't tow with a tow dolly. Have to do it with a trailer.Find a person with triple A to help you. Have fun!

If it is two wheel drive the shift linkage is under the hood.It is a front wheel the hood look down on top of the tranny. On drivers side you should see the cable going to the should pop of the ball with a screw driver.becareful not to brake anything.then shift by hand.after you blck the back wheel!

2001 Ford Escape shift locked in park position, but display shows neutral.

It's possible the rubber donut bushings on the shifter linkage underneath the car are worn or even missing. If they have been renewed recently then adjustment of the linkage was not done properly. It is a difficult and dirty job without a car lift.

Need an expert input on disconnecting linkage

Even if you can disconnect the linkage this will not fix your overall problem of no keys and you may mess up the vehicle. Go to the dmv with your plate number and drivers lisc they can get you a copy of the title. You can also get a print out of the vehicles ownership just by going to the state police explaining the situation. They should be able to confirm with the ford dealership u are the owner.

What does the green vehicle symbol with arrows underneath mean on my 2008 Ford escape?

It just means your vehicle is on and capable of movement. Because the car can be almost silent when its in its electric mode Ford gave you a little extra indicator to let you know that you're still running/

2003 Ford Escape Shift Problems. Only P works.

Nothing to do with your alternator my friend, you did nothing to cause this situation. Block the tires and put the emergency brake on, slide under to view the shift linkage on the trans, have someone shift ti for you, if the linkage does not move, you have a broken or disconnected shift cable that needs attention.
