If your fuel gauge does not show any activity, in general you need to check if the sending unit from the fuel tank is actually sending a signal. Would need to make sure the circuitry is active, check for fuse failure. The most common fail is a faulty sending unit that is located in the fuel tank. If the sending unit is actually generating a signal then may be the gauge itself is faulty. Hope this helps.

Know gears in auto trans 2003

run the fault codes to find what has happened . Have a pressure test done on the transmission to check for internal failures. IT may be that the CPU put the gear box out of action because of the hot oil situation

99 f-350 super duty 4x4 v10. oil pressure gage reads 0 starts and will idle. rev it up it backfires in notwr somewhere

Sounds to me that it has jumped it timeing. This will make you not have any oil pressure and will also make it back fire. You will need to replace the timeing chain and inspect the gears to see if they are worn. And if the show signs of wear change them. You only want to do this onec.

2002 Kia sportage has a negative lead from the battery grounded to the battery box. Had a short come through one of the battery hold down clamps and in fact fried it. Any ideas as to what caused this short...

Hi Gaga,
Careful observation and looking at the cables will answer that question and find the problem. The short circuit will have damaged the effected cables and related parts. If need be remove the insulation as far back as necessary.
Redirect the earth that's connected to the battery box and find a firm strong part of the body to connect to. If that connection to ground was not making good contact and causing high resistance, that would cause over heating and eventual melting of the ground cable insulation.

OBD II code P1627. The car idles fine but cuts out under a load

This means the voltage at ecm is out of tollerance. This being said, it may or may not be the ecm. Check the fuel gage for accuracy (full tank and it shows different, etc.). Do the cooling fans kick on constantly at low temps? If so, then its a bad fuel sending unit module on the unit (fuel level gagae at fuel pump.

Truck starts then stops if you release the throtle

If this is a carburated engine, adjust the idle mixture setting. It sounds like it is getting too much gas. If this engine has fuel injection, there is nothing you can do.

Also, I had to turn off my spell checker while typing this because it "corrected" it to:

If the is a carbuncle English, dust the idol miniature setting. It pounds like it is meting oi ouch gaga. If this English has fail conjecture, there is nosing you can do.
