The Dakotas are notorious for bad ball joints which make a creeping type noise just about when they're going to fail.

SOURCE: want to change torsion bar keys

The torsion keys are supposed to give 2-3" additional drop vs.the "free" method. I know adjusting the torsion bars kills the ride but how bad is it and how far can you go???

Believe, 15/16 socket would be the correct size. Also, be aware that they are probably pretty rusted and VERY hard to turn at first. Air tools do no good, so you'll need a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a long pole to put on the end. This is the fastest way to get the torque you need to break those suckers loose.

I suggest measure and writing down the height about 3-5 spots on each side, whether it be the frame, body, or whatever. Crank each side a few FULL thread turns, then measure again. Once you get about the height you want, measure both side to make sure they're equal. After that, it's best to get a full alignment as some of the suspension will now be at different angles (of course).

SOURCE: I want lower the truck about 2"

If you lower the front by using the torsion bars the front end camber is going to be to negative. They make kits to lower cars, lower spindles keeping the steering geometry ok. In the long run i believe it is better to buy a kit and do it right.

How can I adjust the front torsion bars?

loosen of the lock nut on the adjuster bolt and then turn it in to increase the tension in the torsion bars
if turning that bolt is difficult then a jack under the front of the vehicle will lighten the load on the thread and make turning easier
remember that adjusting the height if the vehicle by adding extra tension to the torsion bars will alter the wheel alignment

Can up country shocks be used on a non-up country suspension. Worried about the travel and collapsed measurements. Not enough travel or too little?

doubtful the shocks would be the source of any creaking/squeaks. Most creaking and squeak noises are usually a result of worn/dry bushings. I would inspect all swaybar/control arm bushings for dryness and deteriation. Spraying wd40 on all rubber bushings in the rear may cause the noise to subside for a while until you are able to isolate the exactr source

When turning creeking noise from front of van

Probably torsion bad bushings. Jack it up on both sides, put it on jack stands have someone turn the wheel back and forth and see if you can isolate the source of the noise.

What is making loud noise by front passenger tire when you go over bumps or turn? It's a very load creeking sound.

could be loose strut springs , strut shocky mount , top strut bearing, loose wheel bearings, suspension mounts.
have it inspected by an accredited suspension shop.

1993 toyota truck making popping noise under the cab when driving every now and then

It could be a mount, but I would also check the torsion bars. They have been known to snap. Get under the truck and look for the long bars going from the front suspension to under the cab. Look for any looseness, or clean metal, which would suggest rubbing. If the ride height of the truck seems off, especially side to side, thats a good indicator the torsion bars are either broken or adjusted wrong.
