Usually located on the frame rail.....

Fuel Filter Removal & Installation To Remove:

CAUTION
Fuel injection systems remain under pressure, even after the engine has been turned OFF. The fuel system pressure must be relieved before Disconnecting any fuel lines. Failure to do so may result in fire and/or personal injury.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Raise vehicle
  4. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter. Have a drain pan handy to catch any residual fuel once the lines are separated.
  5. Remove the fuel filter from the bracket and the retainer, if equipped. Note the direction of the flow arrow so the replacement filter can be installed correctly.
  6. Dispose of any residual gasoline in an approved container.
To Install:
  1. Position the fuel filter into the mounting bracket with the flow arrow pointing in the correct direction.
  2. Install the fuel lines to the fuel filter. On some models, align and push the male tube into the female fitting until a click is heard. Pull on the fitting to ensure that it is fully engaged, and then install the safety clip.
  3. Lower the vehicle to the ground. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the PCM relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles (16 km) or more to relearn the strategy.
  4. Connect: the negative battery cable.
  5. Turn the ignition key to the ON position to pressurize the fuel system and inspect for any leaks.
Hope this helps!!!

SOURCE: my ford 2005 explorer sport trac the windows don't work.

You may want to check the relay that goes to the primary window. This will provide support to all the other windows. However, it may not just be the window relay, it could possibly be that between your window relay and your main switch there is a short or cut wire that is causing this problem. Unfortunately, you may need to visit your Ford Dealership to run a diagnostic on your wire or if you know an electronic shop that can run one to see if it is receiving and sending power. Have them check the main door fuse and window assembly to see that you are getting power.

SOURCE: 2005 Sport Trac Cruise Control does not engage

If you can please look under the hood and find the Air filter, and follow that all the way to a round metal part (Throttle body) If you can see it there will be a coil, and on that coid will extrude a curved plate with a cable(throttle cable) attached to it running all the way back inward toward the back of the engine, and next to that there should be a second cable (crusie control cable). This cable is pulled on when you engage the cruise control, by a black box next to the fuse box.
If the Cruise control cable is near by try to reattach it and if it is damaged then have your dealership or some one mechanically inclinded to replace the tip ( if plastic) or replace the cable.
If that didnt help please get back to me

I need directions for changing out the fuel filter for a 2005 Ford Sport Trac

  1. Put some safety glasses on.
  2. Remove the gas cap.
  3. Remove the bracket holding the fuel lines by the fuel filter to give you a little working space.
  4. take the gas tool and put it around the line and press towards the fuel filter. You may have to wiggle it a bit and work with it but eventually it will pop a little loose and the you pull that line out of the fuel filter.
  5. Do the same with the other line.
  6. Now the fuel filter should be out. Note the arrows on the new filter and the arrows on it. The arrows must point forward or the fuel filter will not function properly.
  7. The fuel lines just push firm right into the new filter.
  8. Now reverse the previous steps to finish the job.
  9. Don't forget to click that fuel cap a few times to make sure it is on real good.

I have an '04 Explorer Sport Trac. When my girlfriend went to start it today she said "check fuel pump" popped up on the screen then it died and wont crank back up. Any suggestions?

seperate the fuel line at the fuel injecter, turn the engine over if fuel comes out , more than likely it is not the pump, if you get no fuel, change the filter, try again, if no fuel most fuel pumps today are in the tank, drop tank change pump

Fuel Filter for Sport Trac

If the car is running good no engine problems or poor gas mileage I wouldn't worry about it. This is done as preventive maintenance. Every tune-up parts have replacement recommended periods. Ignition components, all filters and lubricants should all be replaced the most every six moths depending on how much you drive. Its all common sense if you check your oil and its black its time to change it. If your brakes are screeching same thing and if it been six month probably well over 15,000 miles since you replaced the fuel filter it'll be a good idea to change it.
