This A/T tranny
and is called park lock out.
there is an emergancy bypass lever there. ask for location
or read the operators guide, if lost get one. keep it. i the glove box
where it belongs.

the park lock out repairs and diagnosis is covered fully in the FSM.
read that.
or log into
if no cash for books and still want to fix it by self then post back
for the drawings and will need a voltmeter from walfart for $10

old post. if still stuck ask again.

SOURCE: i have a suzuki xl7

you may have lost power to/or have a bad shift interlock solenoid. the solenoid is what releases the gear shift when the brake pedal is applied. you may want to check the brake light switch to make sure it is working correctly.

Why is my key getting stuck in the ignition when the car is off and in park

The interlock mechanism might be out of adjustment or the lock mechanism might have a pin that is sticking.

2007 suzuki xl7 abs and trac and stability lights stay on already have had sensor replaced

you forgot to scan it first
and to read the FSM on results of above, sure.

sounds like your shop is incompetent; try a full ASE shop. they wont make excuses...

first off if the brakes are bad or weak the ABS will not be happy.
if the abs cannot control wheel spin, then just maybe its bad brakes.

in fact its that order
ABS (abs needs brakes that work or/ fails)
Trac. (track uses ABS to work) so.... is last. to fix.

the lights can go on ,even when driviing off road. or on ice
this is normal, it just means ,easy dude...
but if it sticks on, you scan it, did you not scan it first? at stick on?
buy a scan tool
my innova 3160 does full factory scan.

finding chapter 11 suzuki dealers are a problem. so.... id sell it , if not with all tools needed. buy a jeep. 10x better.
best year is 2006. imo

Sticking in park

Some models (Not sure about your Suzuki.) have a solenoid that unlocks the shifter when the brake pedal is depressed. If you are able to eventually get it out of park, it may just need cleaning and lubrication. I had one in the shop that was really gummy and found out that soda pop had been spilled on the console. Remove the boot, and get the mechanism exposed, then clean all the "gunk" from around the mechanism and spray a lubricant on the placed where the lock slides in and out of the mechanism. Since I'm not sure how or what the Suzuki uses, you're sort of on your own, but I hope this is of some help. Best of luck.

2008 astra stuck in park

I find if you park on a grade different cars have a habit of doing that. Get some one to rock the car back and forth and keep working the lever as they do. I had mine stick just a week ago but I got it to release just by forcing the shifter. But don't do it hard enough to break it.

2nd will not get out of park

2008, you should still be covered under warranty and should not have been charged at the dealer. If you did go to have it repaired somewhere else, then it may have void any warranty you had on that issue.
Disassembled the center console around the shifter, you should see that the problem is in somewhere in the shift mechanism.
There is a solenoid that is activated by the break that moves a lever. If this appears to work OK but the stick is still stuck in park. Take noticed to the  pink piece of plastic with a cable attached so try moving that manually and, with it pulling rearward on the stick. It may appear that the pink plastic tab is the offender, and the cable may need to be adjusted to fully release the shifter leaver.

Gear shifter

The shifter cable and linkage may be getting sticky. Locate the linkage and cable on the gear selector (transmission side under hood) and spray them with some PB Blaster or WD 40.

Gear shifter

Sounds like just the brake-shift interlock getting stuck. I would try using the override to get the shifter working again, then use the parking brake to keep it from getting jammed in the future.

The parking brake will reduce the pressure on the gearbox, especially when parked on an incline. If the interlock continues to jam, you probably do need to have the shifter replaced.
