Hi jlpope,

Replaceing the starter under the hood is not advisable since this will involve remove the cooling assembly, pump to fan to radiator. plus the stater is designed to be removed from the bottom.

Get a jack to do it under car and not under the hood.

regards,

voodoo

Trying to find the Obd port on my plymouth acclaim. Its not in the typical place, under dash near pedals. Or if it is it is well hidden.

If memory serves me correctly, check under hood near battery. I seem to remember the Acclaim being there.

Need to know where timing marks should be when in time on a 93plymouth acclaim 2.5

Twelve (12) degrees. But special procedures are required to set the timing. Refer to the emissions label that should be under the hood or a service manual before attempting to adjust the timing. Hope this helped and best wishes.

(That is if the car has the 2.5L TBI SOHC 4 cylinder engine.)

How hard is it to replace a stater on 4 cylinder acclaim

Not too terribly hard. You have to disconnect the battery, remove the two wires running to the starter, then the 2 bolts that hold it in. You will need to have it on ramps, or a lift to get it from underneath.

Hood release is broken...need to open hood

A hood release works with a cable that pulls the latch open. if you have a long flat head screw-driver you can try to spring the latch itself through the front grill.

1995 Plymouth Acclaim Cylinder Head Removal

Honestly... If you are really not that good at mechanical issues you probably should take it in... Not to be mean but the head needs to come off in a bolt sequence and reinstalled in a bolt sequence with the correct torque... The passenger motor mount, exaust, wire harness, valve cover, head boltscoolant hoses, throttle cable and many more items need to be removed......Also NOTE:... slip and tuck head gasket jobs are NOT advisable and ussually result in doing the job twice over..... The heads have a tendency to warp and also crush in the gaskets over time....The head should be checked for warpage. Also a good time to do the valves and replace seals.......in the end if you are not experienced and do not have someone around that knows aboput the job at hand you may want to have the job done by a tech... For fun grab yourself a Chiltons manual and read through........

Good luck
