Your problem is in the security system. That will disable the fuel system, so a theif cant steal your car. I'd bet you will need to change the key and sensor for the key, it's part of the ignition switch.

try checking the fuel pump. most fuel pumps have a filter on them in the tank if they get dirty or plugged it could cause the car to act up.

I hava a 1992 pontiac grand am . I replaced the fuel tank and the fuel pump. It trys to start but it will not run. It is like it is getting some gas but not enough to start.

Put at least 5 gallons of gas in the tank. Most tank baffles won't let 1 or 2 gallons get to the pump.
Before you do that, go back and make sure everything is hooked up, and no rotten rubber lines at tank and evap connections. If you didn't already, change the fuel filter.

2004 grand am starts and dies, no security lite on

If the engine is actually starting and running for a very brief period of time before stopping it could be the fuel pump. A failing fuel pump can create enough pressure to get an engine started but not sustain it running. I had a Mercedes that required a new pump. This is how it started. Try turning the ignition to on several times and make the pump run several times. Then start the car and see if it runs longer before dying. If so I would see if there is any way to get a pressure check. Depending on the mileage it may be worth changing anyway.

My 2001 Pontiac Grand Am doesn't want to start. I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter about a month ago. It has been running good! Yesterday the dash lights didn't turn on and the car won't start again.

Had the same problem, turned out to be the security system, when the security system has a glitch, the car's computer stops the fuel pump from working to prevent theft, so if you have changed your stereo to an after-market brand, make sure that you have installed a GMRC-1 box, this helps to avoid this problem.

2002 pontiac grand am, new fuel pump and filter, wont start

Is the security light active? If yes it will have to get reprogrammed by the GM dealer as GM has this as a propriatory system... Meaning no one else can work on it.

1996 Pontiac Grand Am will start but won't stay running

Either security chip in the ignition switch has failed or the security system has triggered. Try turning the key on and let the security light flash till it goes on steady. If it does not start, change ignition lock.

Grand Am won't start.

check for spark while cranking
there is a fuel test port under a black cap on the fuel rail press the valve in and see if there is fuel that shoots out. but crank the car a few times first and build fuel pressure. if not the fuel pump is the cause of everything. change the fuel fitler too. clogged fuel filters lead to damaged fuel pumps

check all fuses for turn signal and brake lights.change fuel filter . first. do a little tune up change spark plugs and wires . if changing fuel filter dont help. have fuel pressure check first before buying a new fuel pump .they run after taxes 400.00 dollars. your fuel pressure should be 41 to 47 psi. replace fuel pump relay also.
