SOURCE: radio lights off on 1998 ford explorer

1 -Check your head light switch and turn signal switch by taping them lightly - Common problem with fords to short signal light switch/head lights and they also have radio lights/clock lights control(lights dim for Radio/clock when you turn the lights on)

If you have checked all the fuses and switchs, possible that the light bulbs have burned out. Check with a local radio repair shop and they can remove the radio and install new bulbs.

No power to radio and all fuses in the panel are good. I tried to pull the radio to see if there is a fuse inline, the left side the tool will not go all the way in

can you get your hand behind the radio by removing a pice of trim ash tray ect if not try a small screw driver in the side that doesent want to come out try prying it out double check the fuses as well but there are fuses either in the rear of radio or inline type

Where is the turn signal flasher located on 1998 ford ranger?

The flasher is on the PASSENGER side of the steering column, under the dash, sorta behind your radio/heater controls. It's covered by a black plastic cover. Inside that plastic cover there's a couple of fuses and relays. The bright blue one would be your factory flasher.

I have short circuited the power cords to the cd player, the cd player and the screen is dead, the fuses in the fuse box under the steering wheel is ok. What have i broken?, can it be other fuses?

If you shorted out the power line to the radio and the power line did not have an inline fuse then the radio is probably toast. All after market radios have an inline fuse built on the power line so I'd check that first. also, some radios have a fuse that plugs into the back of them, you'll have to remove the radio to see that one.

After getting a jump-start, my entire radio/cd player went out in my 2000 ford ranger. It's a stock Ford unit. Won't come back on. Is it a fuse?

it sounds like it could be a fuse. double check in your owners manual where the fuse is located and double check if there is more than one fuse for the radio or it may have a fuse for the amplifier too.
