Saab troubleshooting the left rear brake light wont work, when i turn the headlights on all the lamps in the left rear light assembly come on.

IF THE BULBS ARE OK CHECK THE HEADLIGHT MODULE(IT LOOKS LIKE A RELAY, ORANGE CASE I THINK) TRY WIGGLING IT,IM PRETTY SURE THATS IT. THEY GO BAD ALOT ON SAABS. IT SHOULD BE IN THE ENGINE CONPARTMENT

SOURCE: remove/replace shock absorber assembly 900s 1995 saab

  1. Slightly loosen hub center nut when all four wheels are on ground.
  2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove five wheel bolts and wheel.
  3. Remove hub center nut, then the wheel sensor,
  4. Press back brake piston using slip-joint pliers,
  5. Remove caliper from steering swivel member, then suspend in wheel housing with cable tie.
  6. Remove brake disc and back plate, then slightly loosen tie rod end nut.
  7. Press out tie rod end nut using puller tool or equivalent.
  8. Remove nut and tie rod end bolt, then the anti-roll bar to swinging arm nut.
  9. Remove outer ball joint nut.
  10. Press ball joint out of steering swivel member using puller tool or equivalent, installed on spring link.
  11. Remove nut and discard. This self-locking nut must not be reused.
  12. Remove three upper mounting nuts for MacPherson strut, then the strut.
  13. Clamp MacPherson strut in vice.
  14. Compress spring using spring compressor or equivalents.
  15. Hold piston rod and remove nut using MacPherson strut socket tool 89 96 662, or equivalent. This is a self-locking nut and must not be reused.
  16. Remove mounting and top spring seat, then the coil spring, gaiter and compression stop.
  17. Unscrew damper using wrench tool No. 89 96 670, or equivalent, then remove damper from strut.
  18. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    1. Screw damper in place using wrench tool No. 89 96 670, or equivalent.
    2. Lower end of coil spring should abut against stop in bottom of spring cup.
    3. Position MacPherson strut on vehicle and install three retaining nuts on top mounting. Tighten nuts alternately, according to specifications.
    4. Always use new hub center nut with self-locking threads.

First thing to check is the fuses located in the fuse box underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Flip the fuse box cover lid over and you will find a diagram. Pull the power window fuse, brake/stop lamp fuse, and turn signal fuse. Replace each blown out fuse with the same number amp fuse. Next thing to do is look at each light bulb. A fast blinking turn signal is a sign that one of your bulbs (could be the front or back) are burned out. Replace any burned out light bulbs you find, look on the bulb for the correct bulb number. After you complete these two tasks, hook up an on board diagnostics (OBD II) scan tool that is available to use for free at your local auto parts store. This electronic tool will read the trouble codes stored inside your vehicles computer and this will pinpoint the exact componant that has failed. You could have a simple short in your wiring harness or your computer may need to be replaced. After you obtain the error codes, look in the back of a Haynes repair manual (you can view it for free at auto parts store) and match the code up with code found in the book.

Some cars leave a light on if you switch off with the indicator/turn light left on. Put the stalk to the "OFF" position and see if it goes out.

Left rear turn light wont work, bulb and fuses are ok.


Does the left brake light work? (only relevant if your signal and brake light are on a double element bulb in the same lamp assembly). Not relevant if you have an amber t/s light separate from the brake light. If the t/s and brake are in the same lamp housing and the brake light works the wiring is ok and the turn signal switch needs to be checked. If neither work a wire or connector is open circuited; or the ground for the lamp socket is not made. Hope this helps.

The right front turn signal on 2005 chev uplander works and then stops and then starts then the left rear stopped working and now the fan doesn't work, why???


I just replaced all the signal lights on my 2005 van. You may have a cracked and or loose filiments that may be making intermittent conact in your bulbs. I would recommend replacing both your front and rear signal lights to start with and see if that clears up your problem. I aleady have a full procedure written up and will past it below, please use what you need. Note, our vehicles need to have the headlights out to reach the front turn signals below them. My proceedure discripbes how... Hope this helps.

Chevy Uplander (2005) Headlight bulb or turn signal replacement:


It is important to ensure all lights are working for the safety of you and others on the road.


Headlight:

In order to gain access to the head light bulbs, the headlight assembly must be removed. There no easy way to gain access to the lamps with the assembly installed. Open hood. Use 10mm wrench to remove faster on top of the light assembly closest to the rubber hood rest. You then need to remove the silver looking pin near the grill. This pin is snapped in place. Rotate counter clockwise and then pull pin straight out. The light assembly will now have to be pulled past the front header panel near the grill. Use care as the light is pulled past the grill panel. When you have this done there is one more fastener holding the light to the vehicle. On the far out side edge of the light near the fender panel, there is a ball socket fastener holding the light to the vehicle internal frame. Pull straight forward to pull the ball pin out of the socket. It will take a lot of force, but be careful as you apply force and pull light out forward. My light took some wiggling up and down, left and right until the ball released. Once the light is out, the lights are accessible. Both the normal and high beam light sockets rotate counter clockwise to remove from the headlight housing. There is a very tight detent in the counter clock rotation which took a fair amount of force. Once it "clicks" past that point during rotation, the light socket was able to be pulled from the light housing. The light bulb pulls straight out of the socket. Please use a clean towel or gloves to protect your fingers. Bulbs can sometimes crack and cut your fingers. Also, when you install the new lamps, use a towel or cloves as not to get oil on the glass which can cause uneven heating of the glass and crack it under use.


With the light assembly out, it is now easy to reach down into the vehicle to change the turn signal. This lamp is colored since the turn signal lens is clear.


Once bulbs are replaced, please test them before reassembly just in case of any issues. The headlight assembly ball socket will snap back into place easy. Once that is in, press the rest of the light back to its normal place. When the holes are lined up, place the silver colored rod back into its slots all the way down the inside of the light assembly. It then can be rotated and locked back into place. Reinstall the 10mm bolt on top of the light assembly near the rubber hood rest. Again check the lights to insure nothing is out of order.


Rear Lights:

To gain access to the bulbs to the real light assemblies, you must remove the light housings. Open up the rear hatch. Use a T30 Torex screwdriver and remove the two screws on the inside of light. Once those are out, the light assembly can be pulled out slightly from the vehicle. On the side of the van, the light assembly is held in place by two snap fasteners. Pull the light towards the rear of the vehicle to disengage the outside edge fasteners. Once done, the light assembly will be loose and the bulb sockets are accessible. They rotate counter clockwise release from the housing. The bulbs themselves pull straight out of the socket. Please use a towel to protect your hands and to make sure no oil gets on the bulb surface. Once done, reinstall the light assembly by first lining up the two plastic fasteners on the outside edge to the vehicle panel and press the light assembly to the vehicle. Reinstall the two screws and test light. Be sure to have someone press the brake for you to ensure your brake light works.

How do you take the headlights off

Front turn signal replacing bulb


Chevy Uplander Headlight bulb or turn signal replacement:


It is important to ensure all lights are working for the safety of you and others on the road.


To gain access to the turn signal, the headlight assembly needs to be moved out of the way so you can reach under to the rear of the turn signal. Below is a cut and past from my how to lights document for this. You can pull from this what you need to remove the headlight assemby. Bulb types are also listed at the end. I hope this helps>>


Headlight:

In order to gain access to the head light bulbs, the headlight assembly must be removed. There is no easy way to gain access to the lamps with the assembly installed. Open hood. Use 10mm wrench to remove faster on top of the light assembly closest to the rubber hood rest. You then need to remove the silver looking pin near the grill. This pin is snapped in place. Rotate counter clockwise (clock wise on drivers side) and then pull pin straight out. The light assembly will now have to be pulled past the front header panel near the grill. Use care as the light is pulled past the grill panel. When you have this done there is one more fastener holding the light to the vehicle. On the far out side edge of the light near the fender panel, there is a ball socket fastener holding the light to the vehicle internal frame. Pull straight forward to pull the ball pin out of the socket. It will take a lot of force, but be careful as you apply force and pull light out forward. 99 silhouette.all bulbs are in working order.right (not left) signal flashes fast when headlights are on and even worse when brakes depressed(lights on or off).also lights on both rears are real strange on...


I had similar symptoms - rapid flashing of directional when headlights on and brake depressed when making a left turn, both directional indicators in dash light dimly when brake depressed, "Check Traction Control System" indicator On even with ATC turned Off and "strange" indications in tail lights.

Check the pins in the connector at the Lamp Holder Assembly for your Rt. Tail Light for arcing and corrosion. (The female pin is in the vehicle harness connector and the male is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly.) If found, because the male connector is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly, you'll have to replace the Lamp Holder Assembly and the harness section coming in from the vehicle containing the female connector.

I just repaired this problem in the left tail light on my '01 van with a part from a '99 van I found at a local salvage yard.

Brake lights don't come on when the headlights are on, the center one works but the side ones do not. They work when the headlights are off.


Check the rear lamp assemblies and see if the terminals for the brake lamp are getting battery voltage with the brake applied. Check at the connector and the bulb socket, if you have it at the connector and not the socket then you will need to replace the tail/brake lamp assemblies. This is a very common problem on the jeep.
