Question about 1998 Chevrolet C1500
I have a C1500 pickup with a spongy brake pedal, pumping it doesn't help it always ends up in the same spot, When driving it the pedal is half way to the floor before you feel any brakes coming on. The brakes work even though you think they won't with the pedal travel but when you come to a complete stop you can still push the pedal to the floor like something is expanding and taking away the firm pedal. it has a new master recent calipers and pads, drums and shoes and a week ago new brake lines and wheel cylinders. I have tried everything I can think of from adjusting the shoes right up to bleeding the system many times checking the push on the the rod for the master. This has been an issue with this truck since I got it 5 years ago and i would like to have a normal pedal.
Thanks for any advice.
I have a 2001 Chevy 1500 4 X 4 that recently had all new pads, rotors, and calipers installed. Since then my brake pedal goes almost to the floor before I get any brakes. I took it back to the shop and they bled the brakes with no better results. I bled them also with no results. I took the truck back and they installed a master cylinder with no results. It's now at the Chevy dealer and they say it's normal - BS! I had good brakes before I had all of the brake parts replaced, no one can figure it out. If you have a load in the truck or if you tow anything you better be looking at the ditch to avoid an accident. The original brakes would put you nose into the windshield and now I could stop it better the Fred Flinstone way. Anyone have an answer????????

Are you bleeding the system correctly? this is the most common cause of spongy brakes.
