SOURCE: f150 transmission neutralizes when shifts to overdrive

I have that exact same truck and transmission and My Transmission did the exact same thing about a year ago and there was some kind of snap ring inside the transmission that broke. I originally thought it had to be an electirical problem because the truck shifted fine until OD or if i turned OD off. The 4r70w is a light transmission and i would suggest you have a shift kit put in and they make a heavier kit to beef it up.. Sorry its probably not the new you were looking for.

SOURCE: 2002 f150 transmission

if that is a super duty model it is likely the 100 be that as it may the 4R100 is an updated E40D. It is available with the 5.4 in the F-150 only with the California emissions package. Otherwise you get the 4R70W

you can usually "decode" the vin number. here is the link for that http://www.ford-trucks.com/vin-decoder/index.php

this appears to be an excellent site for ford truck owners as well.

SOURCE: 2002 Ford F150. Cruise control stopped working.

Did you have the recall done on it ?
recall 05S28. Description: Speed Control Deactivation Switch.

It could be a blow fuse in the recall harness, if you did have it done.

Try the self test, and see what the results are. If you do not get it into self test mode, it could be the fuse in teh recall harness that is blown. The 1st revision of the recall harness was an inline ATM fuse, not sure if the revision 2 was the same. If that fuse is blown, the switch is leaking, and should be checked.

Self-Test Diagnostics

WARNING:
This test is a key on engine off (KOEO) test only that is conducted in park only with emergency brake fully engaged.

1. Enter self-test diagnostics by depressing the speed control OFF switch while turning the ignition key ON, making sure the engine does not start and is not running. The speed control indicator on the instrument panel will flash once to indicate that speed control module entered the diagnostic mode. Five additional flashes at this point indicate a defective speed control servo. Release the OFF switch.

2. Press the remaining switches in this sequence: ON, RESUME, COAST and SET/ACCEL.

If the ON switch is not depressed within five seconds after entering the diagnostics mode, the module times out and the procedure must be started over.

The speed control indicator lamp will flash as each switch is depressed. Press each switch in the sequence immediately after the indicator light goes out for the previous switch.

Note:
There will be a slight delay when the last button is pressed and the lamp flashes.

3. A lamp flash with the last button (SET/ACCEL) indicates that the static test passed. If the lamp does not flash with the last button and there are no additional flashes of the lamp, the switch is defective.

If the lamp does not flash with the last button, and additional flashes occur, follow the chart below for trouble codes:

— 2 flashes - BPP defective, circuit is defective, brake applied, CPP switch or jumper (if equipped).

I own a 2002 Ford F150 SuperCrew- TCS flashes at low idle,It goes off when truck accelerates. Transmission shifts fine in all gears and if I hit the tcs at highway speed it downshifts to third gear with no...

The flashing is the transmission reporting a problem. Only way to figure it out ( that I know of ) is to have the transmission looked at.

The flashing is generated by the PCM, which controls the engine and transmission. Without a CEL, the general engine state is fine ( no P codes, I would suspect the CEL to be illuminated with B-Body Codes also )

If I had to take a complete guess, I would say this is the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid in the transmission by the description of the symptoms ( flash at low idle )

I have a 2002 mazda millenia. It is pulling codes regarding shift sensors. At cruising speeds it feels as if you downshift suddenly or possible like it isn't getting fuel for a moment. We have replaced...

Can't solve, but, had the same problem. Replaced everything the codes indicated. Drove a couple of weeks and the transmission went. Third gear is gone.

Almost $ 2000.00 to chase the codes, now the transmission is going to cost $ 2,700.00 to rebuild.

Take car to a trans. shop before the transmission burns up and the rebuild will be less!!!!

I have a rattling noise coming from the engine in front of passengers side door on my 2002 corolla with 74K on it. gets louder as its about to shift into 2nd or 3rd

As you might suspect, it is hard to detect a rattle source, unless one actually drives the vehicle. My best guess is that the KNOCK SENSOR is either working erratically, or not working at all. This type of failure more or less matches your description. Have the engine scanned, and if sensor is found damaged, it is easy and inexpensive to replace. Driving for extended periods of time (months) with this noise (knocking engine) , will cause permanent damage to engine.
