Question about 2002 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

1 Answer

The 2002 S430 has 16 S/P wires 9G 2H 4K and 1L. which goes where?

I have changed all sparkplugs at dealer, but # 4 & 5 cables are failing so I bought the whole set of Bosch wires. I thought they would be 8 short and 8 long, but they are as specified above, 9G (short) 2H,4K and 1L Long. Which goes whare?

It is easiest to size them up by placing the coils back on the valve covers so you can see what will work. I know from experience that the new wires will not be exactly the same as the old. As a general rule the 2 longest will go on #1 and #5 cyl.-the first plug on the first coil on the left and right. Generally the shorter ones go on 2nd plug of each coil but I beleive there is one possibly two that go on the first, Just size them up and make sure there is enough slack and the wire fits on the plug securely. The 1st plug on each coil goes to the forward plug and the 2nd goes to the 2nd plug. This is the most important part becuse the vehicle will not run correctly if they are reversed. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a reputable repair facility and have the adaptation values reset with a scan tool since you are fixing the ignition problem A lot of times after an ignition repair the adaptations for the air/fuel mixture change rapidly and the engine module sets a fault. I would also clean the elctrical portion of your mass air flow semsor too ensure proper metering of the intake air-I hope I have been helpful-do not gap your platinum spark plugs or the surface of the electrode will get damaged

How do you change spark plugs in a 2004 hyundia sonata

It depends on which engine is in the vehicle. The 2004 Sonata came with two possible powertrains -- the 2.4 Lit L4, and the 2.7 Lit V6.

On the 4 cylinder engine, there are two coil packs and two ignition wires, Below each coil pack is a spark plug (#2 and #4 cylinders). The wire from # 2 coil pack goes to #3 spark plug, and the wire from #4 coil pack goes to #1 spark plug.

Now the 2.7 Lit V6 requires you remove the surge tank (intake manifold) in order to access the spark plugs & wires on Bank 1 (Right Hand side of the engine).

There is only spark on cylinder 1 & 4

Swap your sparkplug cables #1 with #2 and #3 with #4.
If #2 & 3 still don't spark, then replace the electronic ignition module.

If 2 & 3 spark, then replace sparkplugs and/or wires.

Ford Escape goes dead

You started the right way.
It sounds like it needs a tune-up.
Change the sparkplugs - Use Autolite Platinum ($3.87 for two at WalMart; $6 each at AutoZone)

Also, check for faulty sparkplug cables as follows:
1. When it is getting dark outside, set the parking/emergency brake.
2. Open the hood.
3. Start the car and look under hood for "sparks" from the sparkplug cables to the engine (or other metal part).
4. DON'T TOUCH anything under the hood! The cables can shock you (bad!) or the fan can cut you or the Boogeyman may reach out ... (sorry)...
5. Turn off car .. that ends the cable spark test.
6. Replace ALL sparkplug cables if any create a light show under the hood.

Hope this helps!

Mitsubishi delicia 2.6 td (shogun engine). fails to release from 4wd so two front wheel lights flashing on dash. Its an auto but have tried usual things like re-engage then disengage and straight line...

Check the super select solenoids. I had the same problem with my pajero/montero io, when I released 4WD from 4H to 2H the two front wheels lights started flashing. They stopped flashing and was solid on when I re-engaged the 4WD (2H to 4H).

My problem was a failure in the 2H solenoid, it was not producing enough vacuum. The problem was intermitent at the begining and then was permanent.

I checked the solenoids in this way:
1) The solenoid that receives the vacuum in the botton is for 2H
2) The solenoid that receives the vacuum in the top is for 4H
3) Both solenoids operate in the same way, they only change in the way they transfering vacuum from top/botton to the exit pipe (2H or 4H). The difference is that one has the vacuum input on the top and the another one in the botton.
4) The default position when you disconnect the electronics is 4WD
5) Try disconnecting the electronics and switching the output pipe between the solenoids. This will put the solenoids on 4WD position and you changed the pipes, so the 4WD should disengage.

4WD should disengage if your 4H solenoid is OK, the ligths should now flash when you change from 2H to 4H because 4WD cannot engage because the pipes are switched. You can also check the vacuum of each solenoid with your finger on each one.

If this doesn't work, try to bypass the solenoids and connect the input vacuum hose to the 2H output pipe. If the lights doesn't turn off in 2H mode it's posible that you have different problem.
