I have a similar problems on my 2005 9-3. It has developed a number of minor electical issues. including dial and false warning light triggers. I have fixed most of them by simply going round the car disconnecting the electical connectors and spraying "switch cleaner" (Maplin or Radio Shack). The only problem I have left is the rev counter occasionally starts reading high, removing the fuse (end of dash panel - 4th fuse down) for about 30s with engine off normally resets everything back to normal. Hope that helps.
They will fit the car but are 2 sizes shorter than original equipment. Will make it ride a little rougher, and may make the speedometer read faster than your actual speed. Probably not a huge effect on the speedo.
i would suggest the BCM or speedo head in laymans terms ,i take it this is a new vehicle from 2005 onwards ,which if it is then forget the fault codes as they cannot be read on a europeon market vehicle ,unless this is a export model to america .
I have a 2004 CTS and thought my speedo was broke. It was reading very high and the odometer was wrong. My wife had accidently changed the reading to metric from english on the information center. Maybe your problem?
with the difference in ratio, the drive wheels rotate at a faster rate of RPM. you will also notice that the motor revs higher RPM as well and that will not change. However, you may need to change the speedo cable to resolve the speedometer discrepancy.
The circuit board that controls the speedo has failed, this is the symtom of that failure a wacky speedo reading, sticking reading high and so on, they can be repaired by any GM authorized electronics repair center, don't go through the dealer for the repair, they will send it out to the repair station and then 2X the cost to u, get the name from them though and call them yourself.
