If it's really fast it sounds like you have low compression

Engine cranks wont start

First thing I would check it the fuel pressure at the rail. You can spray some starting fluid or carb cleaner into throttle body. If it want to fire it is most likely the fuel pump. If it doesn't try to fire it is most likely ignition related. Good luck

Cranking over but not starting

If it sound normal when you crank it, you're lacking one of 3 things: air, fuel, or spark. Start by removing the air cleaner cover and spraying a little starting fluid into the throttle body. If it fires up with the starting fluid, it's not getting fuel
If it doesn't fire up with the starting fluid, pull a spark plug wire off of a spark plug, pull back the boot, lay the wire down so the end is a half-inch or less from, but not touching, a metal part of the engine. Have someone crank the engine and see if it sparks. If no spark there, try the same thing with the coil wire by unplugging it from the distributor. If there's no spark there, check the ignition fuse and if that's good, replace the coil.

I am working on a 86 ford festiva. I pulled the car in changed oil. Went to pull back out. Car cranks but no fire. It has mechanical fuel pump on rear left of motor. I checked and have gas to throttle...

Try spraying a little bit of starting fluid down the throttle body them try starting it.If it starts then replace the fuel pump because if you have enough fuel and you have spark then it should start.

Engine turn of wile driving

Put a spark tester on the spark if possible and see if it has spark. Some vehicles have Coil on plug applications which makes this impossible, but if it has spark plug wires this will work. If you have spark, then go to step 2. Spray starter fluid into the throttle body to see if the vehicle starts or wants to start. If it starts...not timing. If it wants to start or even back is the timing. If it doesn't do either, consider the cam/crank sensor. These will effect the spark as well, so if you don't have any spark, not only consider the CS/CRK sensor, but look at the module and coil pack...good luck.

98 Chevy blazer won't start up but will crank ,,

Try giving it a shot of starting fluid. You don't say if it's actually firing. If it tries or runs for a few seconds off of the starting fluid then try changing the fuel pump relay. It's inside of the glove box on the left hand side behind the little door. If that doesn't work it's most likely the fuel pump.

I have 1995 geo tracker. cranks over but doesnt start. would it be coil or fuel problem?

You need to conduct tests to be sure where the trouble is.
1. Spark test: remove the number one spark-plug, and hold it to the engine block. then ask a friend to crank up the engine..
2. If the system is good, you should see steady blue sparks. If you don't, then you would have to work on your ignition system.
3. Fuel test: get a can of 'starting fluid' or the common 'choke and throttle-body cleaner'.
4. Unbolt the clamp holding the air-intake hose to the throttle-body. Pull back the hose to expose the inside of the throttle-body.
5. Spray a good quantity of the cleaner into the body.
6. Re-attach the air-intake hose, and try to crank up the engine again.
7. It will show some hesitation, but keep cranking until it fires up, and able to idle.
8. If the throttle-body and the manifold are dirty, the choke cleaner should help.
9. Please get back to me if necessary.
