Hate to tell you this but they should have told you when you bought the ECM it would have to be programmed. Call your local dealer and talk to the service manager to see what all they have to do. Some vehicles when you get a new ECM you can program it on the bench and if they have the old one they may be able to get the parameters off of it. Different systems are set up different ways but most of the ones I have programed have been out of the vehicle on the bench. So he may tell you to just bring the ECM and maybe the old one also. I would get the VIN and the mileage also to take. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 96 Grand Am SE2 2.4L starts and dies immediately

I had the SAME thing with my car!! Remove your air bag module its a grayish looking box that deploys your air bags, my air bag light was on but it was on and off. I pumped gas in my car one night and when i went to crank it my car cut right off after a split second. My mechanic took time on it but discover that it was a secrity issue. He removed the air bag module and presto it fired right up. I thought it was a fuel filter or fuel pump. It was just the air bag module, people freaked out about it once i told them what it was....it should be under the passenger seat, i believe u may have to take out the seat to get to it.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? It sounds like a bad fuel pump.

Pulled the ecm fuse while car was running now it wont start .

Year/make/model???? Pulling this fuse will cause the ecm memory to be erased. You may have to hold your foot on the gas pedal somewhat and coax it to start and get it running so the ecm can perform a relearn. Not a wise idea to pull this fuse. Worst case scenerio is internal ecm failure

Why my car does not stay on [running] after it starts up? No problem to start it up, but it dies right away.

The fuel pump normally is run with a short timer (less than a minute) that runs the engine long enough for an engine run status to be detected, Normally from distributor signal. For some reason the normal engine run signal is not making it to the fuel pump relay. The security system light coming on may be interrupting it. Check out your wiring diagram to see how the fuel pump circuit is connected.

Where does the power come from for the coil

depending on the year of the car and whether it is a ECM controlled engine. The power for the coil normally comes from the ignition switch from both the start and run positions or from the ecm. IT passes through the coil and down to the distributor either to the points or the electronic module in the distributor. Engines not using an ecm have normally 2 wires to the coil on one terminal. One wire is for the start (12 volts) and the other is for the run (7.5 volts ) as it passes through a resistor or resistor wire. With an ECM on the engine you will have to get the coil voltage reading from the workshop manual

2003 toyota abs light Codes C1203, C1223

C1223 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Input Signal is 0 C1203 - The procedure for this fault is to check for an open or short in the harness and connector between the Skid control ECU and ECM.If no faults are found with the wiring, then - the MIL stays off when ignition on but engine not running (Requires ECM replacing)
- the MIL comes on when ignition on but engine not running (requires ABS & traction actuator assembly)
These parts wont be cheap so i hope its a wiring fault smile.gif
If you take it to a Toyota dealership they should be able to do this for you pretty easily.

1997 breeze is shooting codes 12 46 43 55

OBD Code 12 - No Distributor Reference Pulse (Diagnostic Test Active) The Engine Control Module-ECM uses the distributor reference pulse to calculate the engine speed. On newer engines, the Crank Shaft Position Sensor performs this function.

Symptoms:
  • When flashing the Check Engine Light to read codes, code 12 will always display first, indicating the diagnostic system is active
  • The engine will not run with a "hard" code 12 set
Common Problems:
  • Chances are you will never need to diagnose a code 12. Rather, the problem would be a crank, no-start condition.
  • If code 12 does not flash, that would indicate a communication problem with the ECM.
  • Code 12 does not show when reading codes with a scan tool. If there is a communication problem, the scan tool will let you know.

OBD Code 46 - Pass-Key II System Error - Circuit out of Frequency Range The ECM receives a signal from the Pass-Key module. When the correct signal is received, the ECM will allow the engine to start and run. Please review the RepairPal article on the GM Pass-Key Anti-theft systems for more information.

Symptoms:
  • Engine may not start
Common Problems:
  • Faulty ignition lock cylinder

OBD Code 43 - Knock Sensor error The ECM receives a signal from the Knock Sensor based on the amount of engine ping detected. The ECM uses information from this sensor to help calculate fuel delivery and spark timing.

Symptoms:
  • Engine ping
  • Lack of power
Common Problems:
  • Faulty Knock sensor
  • Poor connection at Knock sensor

OBD Code 55 - End Test.

Hope ehit help (remember comment and rated this).

I have just changed the engine in a opel astra 1.7 dti carvan its isuzu engine and now it will not start at all not will happen when u turn the key

this cars have safety feature on the steering column, there is a signal emitter that works with the key of your car, that will only work with your key on your steering column and it sends a signal to your ecm so you can start your car, so if u changed that engine u must have changed the ecm that does not work with the sistem on your streering column, u need to have reprogrammed your key and signal emitter on the steering column so the signal to the ecm is the right one, u need to take ur car to a dealership so they can do the work
take care, hope this helps
