I got a new Radio for my wife's jeep. The radio does not receive power and the fuses are good. I cut the harness like an idiot and then got and connected in new ones. The are soldered together correctly. I have the adapter kit for the head unit. Problem is the factory head unit won't receive power.

There were four Grand Cherokee models in 2000 and two radio systems. If it is an aftermarket radio you are trying to install, the radio-to-harness adapter may be the wrong one. Also, where remote steering wheel controls are involved, they may not work with the new radio.

I need to fix the power problem before I have to worry about that.

I'm just trying to get the factory head unit to work again. After that I will worry about the steering wheel controls. I got the correct stuff for the jeep from an audio shop.

Once I get the power back then the new head unit will work fine. I am just trying to save money on getting it back up and working.

Radio stopped working

Check to make sure your Volume is turned off. you did not say if the POWER is not there.

Check to see if you burned out a fuse

Test the Radio with applying power, if you apply power and it still does not work, then you are going to install a new aftermarket Radio and be grateful for it later.

Some Radio's have a FUSE inside, you could have also an Inline Fuse.. Check the Power at the Fusebox FIRST... then work your way to the Radio.

It could be a 1 minute fix

How does k\eep alive power works in a car

Whenever the car is shut off, some power remains applied to certain parts such as the radio memory to hold its contents. Otherwise, you would have to reprogram your radio stations every time you restarted your car

Radio will not come on

Of course the obvious, check that the fuse is good. Once you have determined the fuse is operational, you would need to pull the radio and check at the power connector to see if it has power. Assuming you have power to the unit and it still is not coming on there is a strong possibility something in the radio power supply went out. Unfortunately like an electric light bulb, it rarely burns out while operating. Only when you turn it on does it go out. The process of applying power to any electronic device generates heat, and if it has a weak spot that is when it is most likely to burn out.

Radio not working

If you have recently changed the battery or lost power for any reason your radio may require an anti theft code, check your manual to see if this even applies to your vehicle. You may be able to find code behind the glove box in some cases. Or look up your vehicle online to see if any codes are posted. If the clock is working you have power.

Radio problem

InOP - Too many wrong code attempts have been entered and the radio must be left powered on for one hour with the battery and ignition applied before three more attempts can be made. Entering only the correct code will unlock the car radio. here's your answer . cheers
