Check engine light can be as simple as the gas cap getting put on crooked. 5 stops and starts later and it will go off.

did you clear the codes after you replaced the maf, the cel should go off after 50 cycles (ignition being turned off and on)

It actually is saying the air flow is low at the MAF passage. This can mean a clogged air filter or clogged ductwork. Your engine RPM may have changed from the tuneup. If this is the type of engine with the added spout to the distributor, you may have not reconnected it after setting timing.

A bad groundwire will also affect every engine setting overall or from the single badly grounded sensor. You may want to do an Ohm test on the plug-in wires for the MAF to its ECM. You may have a broken wire which would affect the readings.

Just to illustrate, if the MAF produced a fictious 1 volt at normal flow, then the timing and fuel enrichment are set for that RPM. But if the MAF reads .5Volt, it may enrichen the fuel or adjust timing for an engine running 3000RPM. This would flood the converter with more gas than was being burned and needed at idle and result in a Sulfur smell.

Check engine light is on, tested with OBD reader and got P0171 system too lean bank 1 result.

There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the Mass Air Flow sensor or the Mass Air Flow Sensor is dirty or faulty. Try cleaning the MAF sensor wire elements and clear the engine computer code. After removing the MAF sensor, spray the honeycomb inside the sensor, or the air meter with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling. Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, and replace any vacuum hoses that have cracks, cuts, etc. If it has been a long time since you changed your Fuel filter, it may be a good time to do this as well. This could also be due to a faulty O2 Sensor.

1991 olds cutlass calais 2.5 engine ran the self dignostics and got code 33 need to what code 33 is.

It's the maf/map sensor circuit.
maf--- mass air flow sensor
map--- manifold absolute pressure.--- check the small vaccum hose from the map sensor to the source, could be brittle and leaking air.
Have both the map and maf sensor checked for proper voltage, one or both could be bad. A repair shop shouldn't charge much to do that.

My 2000 ford focus has codes p0102 and p0113 whats that and what could it be?

P0102 - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input
The MAF sensor circuit is monitored by the PCM for low air flow (or voltage) input through the comprehensive component monitor (CCM). If during key ON engine running the air flow (or voltage) changes below a minimum calibrated limit, the test fails. MAF sensor disconnected
MAF circuit open to PCM
VPWR open to MAF sensor
PWR GND open to MAF sensor
MAF RTN circuit open to PCM
MAF circuit shorted to GND
Intake air leak (near MAF sensor)
A closed throttle indication [throttle position (TP) sensor system]
Damaged MAF sensor
Damaged PCM
A MAF V PID (MAF PID) reading less than 0.23 volts (Refer to equivalent grams/second chart in GO to Pinpoint Test DC ) in continuous memory or key ON and engine running indicates a hard fault.
P0113 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Circuit High Input Indicates the sensor signal is greater than Self-Test maximum. The IAT sensor maximum is 4.6 volts or -50°C (-58°F). Open circuit in harness
Sensor signal short to power
Damaged sensor
Improper harness connection
Damaged PCM
IAT V PID reading greater than 4.6 volts with key ON and engine OFF or during any engine operating mode indicates a hard fault.

Code P0171 Means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition

All this means is that one or more of the following happened Your MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor. In most cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Take it off and spray it with some electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling. Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses if damaged replace.
