Get down low in the foot well, to see if anything is caught up in the mechanics of the pedal lever. Otherwise the clutch cable may have started breaking inside the cable sleeve, catching inside. If there isn't anything visible caught in the mechanicals, You will have to have a mechanic or someone familiar with the clutch cable connection manually activate the clutch after the cable to ensure there isn't a mechanical problem with the clutch. That will determine if it is the cable or the mechanical clutch.

i had this problem with mine if your cable spins wen the car is moving its not the gear box end or the cable its the speed sensor in the speedo its self its very easy to fix you have to strip the speedo out of the case the sensor is only small and on the under side of the speedo the sensor is about 50 mm long and 10 mm wide change that and it should be ok

SOURCE: subaru impreza automatic transmission won t shift

Try replacing the transmission filter and the trannie fluid. Mine would only go in reverse, and now it drives pretty well. This year has a screw on filter. Hope this helps

Sure sounds like a throw out bearing having too much room. Might need adjustment.

SOURCE: wiring diagram for a subaru impreza

There is no full wiring diadram for this model. All the schematics are divided into the various electrical systems on the car. There are around 50 charts to make up the set. Perhaps if you let me know what system you are interested in, I may be able to help.

Where is the clutch master cylinder in a 1996 Subaru Impreza 2ltr Sportswagon?

To remove or bleed the clutch master, you will need to first remove the battery and the air box. After, you will find the clutch pedal assembly and finally the clutch master cylinder.

Clutch pedal is stuck half way down wont shift gears

Check clutch cable, check clutch lever, if there is some noise from the clutch when the engine is running, then the release bearing is most likely faulty, or even the clutch pressure plate.

Clutch pedal is **** halfway down and dosent shift

If it won't go all the way down, the clutch won't disengage to allow you to shift.

Cant find clutch master cylinder Subaru outback impreza sport 1997.

On most cars the clutch master cylinder is generally mounted to the firewall next to the brake master cylinder, HOWEVER quite a number of manual transmissions have cable operated clutches, and if I remember correctly Subaru was one of them.

1997 subaru impreza wont go into reverse

The subaru gear linkage from the gear stick to the transmission often breaks or gets jammed on something. Look under the car where the gear leaver goes down to the transmission and make sure there is nothing obstructing it. Otherwise try adjusting the clutch linkage to make sure it is completely disengaging.

there is a little black or white depending on the brand rubber buttong located on the clutch pedal that just pops out and pops back in. what happens is the pressure ends up putting a dent in the rubber and so it no longer makes proper contact. its is like a 2 dollar part. good luck
