Oil pressure guage gone goofy

Have your mechanic check the true oil pressure with a pressure gauge, and go from there. If it's good, maybe the shorting sound you heard is the wiring from the oil pressure sender on the engine to the dash. Was the sound coming from back of dash, or from the engine area, or where? Be sure and let your mechanic know.

How to replace my dashboard

Very long process. Remove ground cable on battery first. Then take all screws out accross dash near windshield. thenremove all bolts to steering column and lower, remove all bolts on lower dash and braces, this will allow dash to move somewhat, now start disconnecting the million wires and reverse procedure to reinstall

Is there a master fuse for the instrument fuse panel? I have replaced the 15 A fuse for the console power socket but it is still dead.

No, only one fuse for the guages and should be the 15a. If the fuse is not blown and the dash is still not working you have a bad guage, wiring or guage cluster possibly even a short!!

Have you checked your relays? If a relay is shorting it will cause the fuses to blow.
