Adjustting valve lash

If the firing order is "1-3-4-2". First put it no.1 piston TOP DEAD CENTER. with the marks aligned. Adjust valve lash according to spec on intake and exhaust. Then turn crankshaft on whatever rotation it is suppose to go eg counter clockwise etc. quarter turn ( four cylinder engine). then adjust number 3 ( firing order 1-3-4-2). Then do the same for cylinder 4 and 2.

What are the valve lash specs for 2007 Honda Accord V6?

There is a specific procedure for setting valve clearance . I highly recommend getting a repair manual for the correct specs & procedure. The engine must be at TDC with the #1 cylinder on the compression stroke , that will allow you to adjust ONLY certain valves , then you have to turn the engine one turn to TDC again only now #1 will be on the exhaust stroke & the rest of the valves can be adjusted . it's important that you know the difference between the two !

A typewriter sound is coming from the engine valves.?

Have you checked your oil level? Low oil level will cause this sound. If not, the valves may need to be adjusted. Honda valves should always be adjusted with the engine stone cold.

My lifters are getting really loud on my 91 honda accord ex

All you need is to adjust the valve tappet clearance back to the original specification. It is a time consuming effort and require passion to do it. You need to remove the top engine cover, set timing belt to top dead centre then adjust intake & exhaust valve clearance one by one. Rotare the cranckshaft 180 degree and repeat the valve clearance,. I would suggest to leave it to the expert.

Valve lash

  • INTAKE VALVES: 0.003-0.005 in. (0.08-0.12mm)
  • EXHAUST VALVES: 0.006-0.008 in. (0.16-0.20mm)

  • PLEASE NOTE:
  • THESE SPECS ARE FOR A 4 CYLINDER, THE V6 HAS HYDRAULIC VALVE FOLLOWERS DOES NOT REQUIRE ADJUSTMENT
  • ALL ADJUSTMENTS ARE ON A COLD ENGINE
