Cooling fan not coming on I can make it come on by turning A/C on the other thing is I can pull the fuse out and the fans come on put fuse back in the fan cuts off please help

Hi Matt ,

In this case if after pulling fuse fan get start it means all the wiring, relay and fan is fine you just need to replace the thermostat/Tempratue sensor sensor, it comes on the radiator.

Thanks

Mercedes C180 W203 coolant fan on constant

The fan is on because the wire is cut. If the ecu does not detect a signal from the fan switch it will default as on. Replace the wire and fan temperature switch and all will be ok

What happens when coolant fan relay switch stops working

The issue you describe would not be affected by the cooling fan circuit.
Could be the fuel pump relay or the pump, or an ignition component.

Radiator fans not working when car warms up

The fans are controlled by the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor mounted in the coolant hose at the top front of the engine. Disconnect the electrical connector and see what happens. Fans should not run. If that cut the fans off replace the ECT sensor.

The ECT sensor provides input to the Engine Control Module which controls the radiator fan ...Its usually the center sensor connector thats Grey..
Now in your case if the sensor has failed then the resistor wont activate the fans...Have the resister checked for proper power..make sure you have no lose or dirty corroded wires near the resistor connection also... worst case is they have burned out whcih is rare but it happens.keep me posted..Hope this helps...

Car ran hot now it wont start at all

THE ENGINE IT WONT CRANK IF OVER HEATED CHECK COOLANT LEVEL IF LOW ADD COOLANT.REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF ENGINE STILL OVERHEAT AT A STANDSTILL OR IN A LONG LINE OF SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC.COOLANT FAN SHOULD COME ON.IF ENGINE OVERHEAT CHECK TO SEE IF COOLANT TURNS ON IF NO.CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSE AND RELAY.IFBOTH OKAY HOTWIRE COOLANT FAN TO SEE IF FAN RUNS IF NO REPLACE COOLANT FAN MOTOR. IF FAN RUNS PROBLEM COULD BE PCM OR THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY OR DAMAGE WIRE CONNECTOR TO COOLANT FAN.USE A CODE SCANNER TO LOOK FOR PCM OR ECT FAULTS.IF EVERY THING CHECK OUT OKAY LOOK AT ENGINE OIL DIP STICK.IF IT LOOKS LIGHT BROWN OR LIKE MILK SHAKE YOUR HEAD GASKET BLOWN.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 50/50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER TO ENGINE TO HELP RAISE BOILING POINT.WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES HOT.

1997 pontiac grand am coolant fan not coming on when it needs to. Put new relay on as well. fan does work. what to do next?sometimes it will be on and also stay on but when car cuts off and go to cut back...

coolant fan should kick on when engine coolant reaches 190 to 200 degrees.the coolant temperature sensor resistance will drop.closing contacts allow the pcm to signal or turn on coolant fan.if coolant temoerature sensor is open or bad the coolant fan will not turn on.need to replace it.

I have a 2001 mazda mpv and is overheating bothfan are not woking all relays checked out ok i also replace the cooling sending unit and still not woking someone said to check the thermal fan switch but i...

Turn on your A/C, is at least (1) fan on? NO? You need to replace at least (1) fan, that is the AC fan. YES? Then at least you now you AC fan works.

Make sure you have enough coolant in your car. DON NOT OPEN RADIATOR WHEN HOT. The Coolant Switch will noever cut on if there is no coolant there to trigger it. You can find it where the thermostat housing is.

Next, get a 12V testlight and test the wiring going to the fans. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET CUT MY A FANIF IT TURNS ON! If you have electricity, but the fan does not cut on you fan needs repacing.
