Engine timing Changed timing after been snapped, but still vehicle does not want to start. Valves been checked but okay.

I just changed the timimg and water pump, the still wont start, does turn over though


Not knowing what the vehicle is and what you are referring to when you say you changed the timing can only lead to a speculative answer for you if you are talking about the timing belt was changed you may have messed up the valve and ignition timing and this
Can really do a LOT of damage to the engine such as bending or breaking valves or knocking holes in the pistons.or simply not allowing the valves to operate in the correct sequence and not causing any harm to the engine at all. You need to provide more information about your vehicle to get a better answer for your issue on this. Simply taking the old belt of and putting a new one on generally without some paranormal luck won't work as you have to get the valves and the crankshaft back to the operating positions perfectly for everything to run. SORRY for the abstract answer.

Car wont start


sounds like the timing belt has gone would not keep trying to start engine if this is the case and it will cost you more to fix. it may have striped a cog on the belt or the adjuster has given up the goat. clicking and clunk is a most common sound of the belt going. if you have to have the belt changed and the engine runs and is ticking then the valves are bent and you will need to have the head changed or the valves replaced, as over time the valve can snap and then the engine is a gonner.

P0344 is your cam sensor, try to replace it and see if that fixes the problem. If not check the timing to make sure it didn't jump one tooth off. When the guide pulley or water pump start to fail they start to cause tension and pull on the components. The timing belt, guide pully and water pump should be changed every 75,000 miles on that 3.5L. If it jumpes 4 or more teeth or if the belt snaps this will bend your valves and or destroy your engine.

Mazda 929 1993 model timing belt changed but it won't start


Run a compression check on the engine, you may find several to all cylinders at zero to very low readings due to the engine being an interference engine--which means that if the timing belt breaks while running, valves and pistons will lose their reference to each other and cause several to many collisions between those multiple components. The compression check will confirm this. The proper fix in this case is to remove the cylinder head(s)(if a V6) and inspect the valves and pistons for damage, replacing either bent valves, or punched through pistons. In any case, this will likely cost a bundle of cash to fix. If not reassembled correctly, this problem could reoccur when you try to start it again. Best to have a lot of confidence in the person doing the repairs! You might look at replacing the engine outright with a new or professionally rebuilt engine from another country. The proper time to replace the timing belt is before it breaks! Hope this helps!

Timing belt is broken. Interference or non interference motor?


Most Ford vehicles from 1985 and up have enough valve clearence so the valves do not get hit when the timing belt snaps. Since I worked for ford for many years I have only seen one with valve damage and the youg man said he was driving his car really hard at high RPM's. I believe you will be okay on your engine as long as when the belt broke the engine was not at high rpm's. If know one has told you those engine recommend a timing belt replacement every 60k. When is the timing belt changed


most belt manufacturers recommend 60,000 miles or sooner, some car makers say 80,000 but it is better to change it early than have it snap and ruin the engine.

Severe engine damage to the head, pistons and valves can occur if the belt snaps, the faster the engine is going, the worse the damage. Even at tickover / idle a belt breaking will bend most of the valves in the head so it is prudent to do it as soon as it is required. Also check if the water pump needs doing at the same time, as it needs the timing belt off to do and may be near failure due to having a plastic impeller. Make sure the belt idlers and tensioner are replaced with the belt.

Belt snapped an i have changed the valves i need


Fit them to the crank shaft, that gives you the rough positions. Given you have changed the valves in order and properly sprung you can set the bottom pully to the top(12 0'clock) position, noting which piston is at the top of its stroke, or vary it slightly so its at stroke, Check your head against the block and turn the cam so the inlet valve for that chamber is open. do the same with the next piston in your firing sequence, turning the camshaft accordingly, to ensure the inlet valve opens fully. Fit the gasket and tighten the nuts down lightly, set up the timingmarks by eye,fit the belt and by turning the bottom pully you should find there is no resistance between the piston heads and the valve seats, thats why you don't tighten the head down as not to damage the valves if not firing in line. You should be ok though, tighten the head down slowly checking the pistons and valve contact is not an issue, turning the engine with the socket a full revolution with every turn of the bolts. Once fully tightned, before torquing, turn the engine FULLY to ensure there is NO piston/valve contact, then fit all ancillaries, set timing using a standard strobe and the distributer. My timing belt in my 98 Daewoo Lanos snapped recently and the mechanic i took it to told me there was no need to check to see if there was any damage inside the engine because daewoo motors always drop...


yes they bend valves
head needs to come off and valves will need replacing
this can be repaired
timming belts on these should be replaced every 60,000km
