This might sound stupid but make sure it is in park all the way if it is the steering wheel may be in a bind turn the wheel one way are the other while trying to remove the key.

Very carefully. Make sure your body is grounded so as to prevent electrical discharge that could activate the bag. Maybe it's something better left to the pros.
