Check to see if your serpentine belt is still on the pulleys. No belt,,no power steering and no alternator. You are probably driving on the battery only.

Another solution could be you got a short circuit fromthe water that popped a fuse. check the fuse panel for a bad fuse. Also check the battery terminals to make sure they tight.

Your engine is shutting off,, means no voltage! Check the battery cables and make sure they are TIGHT! Your starter is mounted underneath and exposed to water. Check to see if there is a loose wire on it. Something is shorting out the system. Your steering is hard because when the car engine shuts down so does the belt running the power steering pump, water pump,, alternator and AC compressor. The car will run on the battery for a short time with no steering but will eventully shut off or overheat. This sounds dangerous and you really should see a technician who can diagnose the issue.

If you had a bad fuse the car would not start back up once shutting down until it is changed. Reemember there is a REASON for a fuse to blow. namely a SHORT CIRCUIT.

Your gas pedal won't work because the fuel pump is off,, and the electical system that controls the flow of fuel is off. You have a serious issue and it could lead to a fire.

2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor cranks but wont stay on unless your giving it gas. I put my ear to the gas tank and can here a clicking sound. Could it be the could it be a fuse, fuel pump...

No if it starts but you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep it running and then it dies when you take your foot off the pedal the fuel pump is working otherwise no gas at all if it was not working the throttle position sensor is bad the contact in the sensor is worn out at idle spot but when you first star it the sensor is in a different position and with your foot on the gas you can keep it running right racing like a normal engine but if no gas peddle it won't run if you just turn the key to start like normal but there's also a possibility that the idle air control valve is shot to both are on the throttle body you can look at them at rockauto.Com I'm assuming that your using premium gas and your throttle body is clean if not clean it out and see what happens before you spend $$$ on parts and check all your vacuum lines

Gas pedal reving up and not relaxing.

I have had a problem on a 2008 Santa Fe with the gas pedal going to idle while driving. I shut the car off and turned it back on and it behaved normally so I drove it to the dealer. It had triggered the check engine light and the Hyundai mechanics were able to read a code that told them that the problem was in the sensor on the pedal. They replaced it under warranty. No problem since.

My son drove his charger thru a deep puddle. the

Does the engine turn fully or not? If not the connecting rods are more than likely twisted to your pistons if he hit the deep puddle at a fast rate of speed. The pressure of the water would of passed through the engine's crack seal producing deadly effects to the engine
