SOURCE: 2008 Toyota Tacoma Excessive brake pedal

Your dealer is not lying to you.
All of the Toyota product line with ABS has this phenomenon. What Toyota has done is incorporate "Brake Force Distribution" into the braking system. What that means is there is now a sensor on the brake pedal/brake rod, going to the master cylinder. The sensor measures how FAST you press on the brake pedal. This activates the ABS pump, and supplies more brake fluid, harder, to reduce the time needed, such as a "panic stop"; the pedal travel is much longer than you are used to, because of the way they have to measure the speed of the rod being depressed. In actuality, this system is much better than the old system, as it also prevents wheel drag. It just takes a while to get used to. Really, there is nothing to worry about, I explain this same thing to my customers every week.

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.

SOURCE: trailer brake controller problem

I found the problem. Talking with a technician from the controller company, we determined that it was a fuse problem. I found that the fuse to the CHMSL was blown.

SOURCE: how to wire trailer lights to a toyota tacoma

The easiest way is to get the kit that plugs into the taillight harness to adapt your plug. If one isn't easily available then you can use scotch locks to splice into your trucks harness. Use a test light to make sure you locate the right wires in your trucks harness and go by the wire diagram on the instructions from the plug to hook it up.
I hope this helps!

Go under the dash and disconnect the brake light switch then unscrew the plastic nut that retains it to the pedal bracket. See picture below, the nut is brown in the picture of the switch.

I have a 2001 F150 and am trying to find out where the factory installed plug in is for the brake controller wiring. I have the brake controller and the instructions say to read the truck owners manual...

Hi. There is a grey plug with 6 wires right behind your OBDII diagnostic port on the lower dash board above your accelerator pedal.

The color of the wires on the plug are blue, green, red, white and brown. The wires are as follows:
Blue....electric trailer brake feed
Green....brake pedal switch
Red...12v postitive...always hot
White....ground
Brown....interior vehicle illumination (not used)

The factory wire harness that you will need to attach your brake controller will plug right into this plug. The factory wires are colored the same as above.

After-market and brake conroller wires are colored as follows:
Blue....electric trailer brake feed
Red.....brake pedal switch
White....ground
Black....12v positive

How do I assemble the front break disc pads on a 2004 Toyota Tacoma 2wd?

To install:
  1. Siphon a small amount of brake fluid from the reservoir. Press in the brake caliper piston with the proper tool.
  2. Before installing the new pads, check the disc thickness and disc runout.
  3. Install the pad support plates.
  4. Install the anti-squeal shims to each pad.
NOTE Apply disc brake grease to both sides of the inner anti-squeal shims.
  5. Install the disc pads so the wear indicator plate is facing downward.
  6. If removed, install the anti-squeal springs.
  7. Carefully install the brake caliper so the boot is not wedged.
  8. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
  9. Check and adjust the fluid level. Apply the brake pedal several times.
  10. Roadtest the vehicle for proper operation.

You have a bad ground, take the light out and see if there are ground wires at each bulb socket, these will get loose or corrode.

2001 f250 brake controler will not work

As you probably know, the blue wire is the brake wire, have you checked at the truck plug (for the trailer) for power to the blue (brake) wire while someone steps on the truck brake pedal? There shouldn't be any power at the plug until the truck brakes are applied, then you should have at least 12v there.
