If u open the hood u will find two lines coming from the AC compressor on the engine, the larger of the two lines is the low pressure side, the smaller is the high pressure/liquid line, the fitting are located in the lines in most cases, large plastic cover caps are on them, u never use the high side in most cases all charging is done through the low side line charging port. also read the info at the link below for very detailed info on the operation and charging and repair of the system.

How to recharge ac

There are many ways to recharge an ac system but to do it correctly is a bit more in-depth. You can read the ac tag under the hood of your vehicle and purchase a can of coolant then hook it up to the low pressure side as shown on the can. Start the engine and follow their instructions. If you have a leak you should add UV dye to the system to locate the leak then repair as needed. To recharge system I recommend purging the system to a proper catchment contaner, recycle the refrigerant as required. Put an ac manifold on the high and low ports of the ac system (they are sized to only fit in the proper location) then attach a moisture removing vacuum pump create a vacuum in the system of 20lbs at sea level or more. Close the high and low pressure valves and disconnect the vacuum pump connect the refrigerant to the vacuum line, start the vehicle, turn on the ac (fan on low) add the amount of refrigerant that your vehicle tag requires.

Trying to locate low pressure side of a/c to add R134A on a 1999 monte carlo. I have two ports....one is top of the other..the top one points straight up and the one beneath it is at an angle. they are...

If you buy a recharge can from your local auto parts store the connector will only fit on the high side. It is usually bigger then the low side so the connector will only clip onto the high side connector.

Need to see a picture of high and low ports and their locations on a silverado pickup. can only find two ports on the same line -one smaller than the other.

That's them, and only ones, there's an orfic tube in between both ports in the line, that's what changes the pressure from high to low, from one end of the orfic tube to the other, the small port will be the low side, that the one you recharge in, and the big one is high side.Hope this was very helpful.

Where is the low pressure side charging port for the 2001 chevy silverado

It is usually on the passengers side of the vehicle, should be right after the dryer, evacuator. When you locate it it is usaually a black cap and if you are recharging yourself, the adapter almost always never fits the high pressure side. Make sure you check the pressure before filling, over filling is not a good thing.

What is the 134-a-Freon Compacity for a 1998 chevy Silverado & also the pressure for the low side & high side

The R134-a refrigerant should be 1.80lbs. and the presures are dictated by the system it's self which they should be around the same pressure. If the low side is much greater than the high side and fluctuats greatly as it is running you should replace the orafice tube which is located in one of the metal lines near a connection. You can locate the orafice tube buy looking for three little dimple crimps about 3 inches from one of the connections in the metal line.

R134a recharger nozzle won't fit on low pressure service port.

The low pressure port on the 2003 grand am is actually behind the engine, near the firewall on the passenger side. Good luck getting your hose down there though, I ended up buying an extension hose.
