seems to me (id use my meter to find truth) a short in the HL.
head lights. and possible wrong size fuse in that circuit too.
find a good ASE shop. they will make short (no pun) work of this.
or buy a DMM and ask how to do this.
or inspect all HL wires for shorts.
it also seems to me the park lamps side is shorted.
but i cant see dash and the effect.
are you saying the warning lights in cluster or blinking
or the cluster back lights flash.
if back lights , that is PARK (via dimmer) in the dash.
so if the backlights dim that means the park feed is shorted.
but, like I said, I never guess. I use a meter.
i have s40 1999 volvo interior lights and stereo was not working but dash lights and headlightswhere fine, also i had car with cross on dash bottom rhs in orange on. replaced 10 amp fuse in main fuse box under the hood rhs. it is located in triple fuse holder. it seems hard to pry of but flat bladed screwdriver new fuse all lights working and orange warning light gone.
you cant check the wire like you are doing.
Check with multi meter for continuity. then you will find the problem.
You can put slight bigger fuse and see if that solve the problem.
DASH HAS A SHORT CIRCUIT.DASH NEED REPLACING BUT CHECK FOR SHORTS IN THE WIRES TO DASH.DONT PUT A LARGER AMP FUSE IN A CIRCUIT TO KEEP FROM BLOWING FUSE BECAUSE IF FUSE DONT BLOW WIRES GET HOT IN THE CIRCUIT THAT HAS A SHORT IN IT AND CAUSE A CAR FIRE.
sounds like a short
look at wires under dash
then look at te wires coming through the fire wall
check lighter too it might have a coin stuck in it as it will cause a short too
disconnect marker lights from power re insert fuse if dash stays on search for trouble in marker light circuit possible bad ground or bulb short in socket if dash blows fuse than look under dash for a damaged feed line shorting or ground short
you have a loose wire or a short somewhere in the dash. Hopefully you can fix without changing the harness out. I'd try some test to try to isolate the problem. with the engine off, and the lights on and radio on, reach under the dash to where your fuses are located and lightly move the wires coming from the fuse box watching and listening for the short. If you cant locate here, move your hand deeper into the dash again lightly mving the wires behind the radio and then the light swtich. good luck of finding this.
If it is just the dash and the tail lights then the small light fuse under the hood right side must be blowing. There must be a short somewhere. I had this problem recently. you need to look for the short in some odd places. there is a known defect in the sunvisors that can pinch wires and short this fuse. In my case the car stereo had a stray wire that was the problem. I think its the #15 fuse under the hood
