Did you mark the cogs when you took the belt off? Check valve timing by putting the bottom pulley at top dead centre The keyways on the camshafts should be both at 12 o'clock (yes both camshafts) Othe reason for that behaviour is make sure the oxegen sensor is connected and the air intake hose is all tight and no air leaks between air cleaner and manifold or in manifold ie: left a hose off manifold (easily done, That many of them)

95 miata just quit running at a traffic light and now will turn over but won't fire

sounds like blown timing. do you have spark? Also could be a fuel pump crapped out. Its turning and turning but wont start? Check the fuel rail while someone is trying to turn over.

Need to replace egr valve, but don't know where it is located

Your going to have lay on the engine and do the job blind, If you have a machanic's mirror that would help.
The EGR is located on the rear driver's side head. If you look at left side and to the rear of the plastic intake manifold, you will see and metal tube that makes a 90 degree turn. Just follow it to the rear of the engine and you'll find where the EGR valve.
Most guys remove the EGR tube and valve together, but you can take the Valve off on it's own. Here's the easy way but more work by taking the tube off with the EGR valve.
Remove the two 10 mm bolt that holds the EGR Valve to the head, and remove the Valve and tube together. The bolts go straight down from the top. Don't bother looking for then, your going to have to feel for them.
WHen your putting things back together, leave the the tube loose from the valve or your going to have a hard time putting the bolts back to the Valve to the head joint.
After your done putting everything back together, disconnect the battery for a few min and turn on the lights to charge down any power to clear any false codes.
Good luck and hope this helps.

If it is firing good and is getting fuel I would suggest checking the timing again and adjust the valves again. Sounds like the timing is still off to me .

95 318is bmw wont turn over

once the ecu has been programed and encoded to the car you will have to make sure that the ecu has been aligned with the EWS control unit or it will not send a start signal to the starter motor
