My 98 contour has been parked for a year and now brakes not worki

The resorvoir for the brake fluid was empty and after I filled it up, I press on the brakes and it goes right to the floor? I had it bleed, but its still doing the same and the brake fluid resorvoir still stays the same its like the fluid is not moving?
Can any body help me or reveal some info. on how to fix this prob?

You have a leak which has put alot of air in the system, was the bleeding done by a shop? Check all 4 wheels for signs of fluid leakage, most likely the back wheels. If no leakage at the wheels suspect the master cylinder leaking from the back side, if so you will see evidence of fluid leaking from under the master cylinder.

98 Dodg3 Durango emer brake is released, red light is on &when put in gear it's as driving with emer brakes on recently serp belt changed trans belts adjustd..transfercase have anything to do with it

The red brake light also means there is a problem with regular brakes , not just for emergency or parking brake . This light if on an emergency brake is released you have front disc brake problems or you have a brake fluid leak an the master cylinder is empty ! The transfer case has nothing to do with the brakes ! Have a qualified repair shop check it !

Where is slave cylinder located on is300

i presume your asking about the clutch slave cylinder ,this will be located under the hood at the bulkhead end of engine compartment ,there will be a small fluid resovoir sitting on top of the actual hydraulic slave cylinder , the clutch fluid resorvoir is smaller , and usually not opaque, than the brake fluid resorvoir, which are usually next to each other , incidentally the brake also has a slave, or more usually known as the master , cylinder

How do i replace rear brake pads off a 1995 ford contour

Check this REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
(see Figures 1, 2 and 3 / click over images for zoom )

CAUTION Older brake pads or shoes may contain asbestos, which has been determined to be cancer causing agent. Never clean the brake surfaces with compressed air! Avoid inhaling any dust from any brake surface! When cleaning brake surfaces, use a commercially available brake cleaning fluid.
  1. Remove 1 / 2 of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4. Remove the cotter pin and guide pin.

Fig. 1: Rear disc brake components

  1. Remove the caliper locating pin cover and remove the locating pin.
  2. Swing the rear disc brake caliper away from the brake rotor and anchor plate. There is no need to remove the parking brake cable or brake hose.
  3. Remove the inner and outer disc brake pads.
To install:
  1. If installing new disc brake pads, use rear caliper piston adjuster T87P-2588-A or similar tool, to rotate the rear disc brake piston clockwise, retracting the caliper piston. This will allow room for the new brake pads.

Fig. 2: Removing the parking brake cable

zjlimited_1155.jpg

Fig. 3: Use the adjuster tool to rotate the piston into the caliper

  1. Install the inner and outer disc brake pads.
  2. Swing the rear disc brake caliper back into position over the disc brake pads.
  3. Clean the locating pin threads and apply 1 drop of a thread locking agent or similar sealer.
  4. Apply a small amount of disc brake caliper slide grease to the shaft of the locating pin.
  5. Reinstall the locating pin and torque to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm).
  6. Reinstall the guide pin and the cotter pin.
  7. Adjust the parking brake by operating the parking brake control several times.
  8. Reinstall the wheel and tire assembly. Torque the lug nuts to 62 ft. lbs. (85 Nm).
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Adjust the parking brake by operating the parking brake control several times.
  11. Pump the brake pedal several times to achieve a good pedal before attempting to move the vehicle.
  12. Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder fluid reservoir and add fluid as necessary.
  13. Road test the vehicle and check for proper brake system operation.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

Have brakes with vehicle off, when car is started brake pedal goes to floor

Very careful here you have no Fluid or very very low fluid possible Broken brake line busted
look carefullly at where it sits Check the ground Observe the fluid resorvoir for fluid IF its very low below the chambers walls in the resorvoir you may have to add then bleed off the air in the lines that got sucked in BUT first Try your emergency brake... use it and be ready to pull it up after car starts and goes into gear . Be ready to yank that Emergency up to stop vehicle if pedal does not have enough pressure in line to stop the car.. if its low add if its empty be prepared to see a puddlew of clear brake fluid on ground under vehicle 91 likely broken line they rust out...had a 92 line brake just pressing the pedal in driveway ...at full speed you will coast for blocks until you figure out to use Emergency brakes or Turn off key steer to open spaces my friend ... nothing to trifle with innocent folks walking have no idea you can not stop

Brake warning lights stay on when i press the foot brake .the brake lights work ok .

You may just need to fill the brake resorvoir with brake fluid, when you are NOT pressing the pedal the fluid in the resovoir is low and the light comes on.

When you DO press the brake pedal you are forcing brake fluid level to go higher and this tells the sensor in the resovoir that the resovoir is full.

The brake fliud resorvoir may have a sensor on it that is at fault. Also if the brake pads are getting very tin the light will stay on for the brake fluid is low if not filled. Fill the fluid up and see if the light goes off. The sensor if equipt will have two wires for a conection

No pressure when I brake.

I would suspect there is either a crack in your brake line. the fluid has to go somewhere if youre having to refill the reservior. Maybe they didnt bleed them after the work was done, and had an air bubble and when you applied pressure is blew out a fitting. needs to be checked out though for sure!
