SOURCE: key is stuck in ignition. Depressing the "unlock"

Somtimes you need to turn the steering wheel a little to allow the lock to engage.

Try depress the unlock button while moving the steering back and forth a little. Try a lot..
If not work, drape a scarf or towel over steering column to hide key in ignition, and use spare key to open door lock. You do have spare key?
Check your insurance, you may have lock smith lock out coverage.
Good luck.

SOURCE: my 08 denali park assist button is stuck, now it

Hi there:
Sounds like there is GMLAN issue, that mean by this, is that all of the modules on the car talk with each other over dedicated wiring. If these wires are shorted to either ground or power, the communication between these modules is interrupted and this is where all of the weird electrical issues come in.

In fact there is an extensive bulletin GM has issued for this on possible places that the wiring can be compromised or where connections can be poor. If you would like to review this bulletin, CLICK HERE for it.

I just wanted to pass some information along about what the dealership may have to potentially check to repair this issue for you.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Shifter button stuck

there should be 2 Phillips screws hold the shifter knob to the shaft. once you take out those screws it should just pop up. as far as I know there are no springs in the knob it's just a slide button. the rest of the parts are part of the shifter assembly.

Hi there,

Some automatic vehicles rely on the brake switch (mounted on brake pedal) to be activated by depressing brake pedal. This signal then operates a relay and switch, to release the gear lever.

Firstly, I would check the brake pedal switch (are your brake lights working?).

If brake switch is confirmed OK, then inspect the relay (and related circuit components) of the gear release switch.

Maintenance Lamp

Here's how you reset your maintenance light.

To reset the light,
Turn the ignition on
Make sure the odometer displays "ODO"
1.Turn the key off
2.Press and hold down the same button you use to get to "ODO"
3.Turn the key back to ON ( while still holding down the button)
4.Hold the button in until all the flashing lines on the odometer go away and the bunch of "000000" shows up and the maint reset light will turn off.
Your'e done.

If this doesn't work, you would have to try it on "trip A" instead of "ODO".

Maint light came on at 59990 miles

I own a dealership, and you are NOT stuck taking it to a dealer.

This is how you do it:

1. Turn the key on
2. Verify that the ODO dislays your 59+K miles; NOT trip A or trip B; you MUST see "ODO" displayed
3. Turn the key OFF
4. Push in and HOLD the trip reset button. Do NOT release it until advised...
5. Turn the key to the "ON" position, do NOT start the car.
6. Obsrve the odometer. You will see 5 dashes, then 4, 3, 2, 1 dashes, and then 5 zeros
7. The mileage you started with will return.
8. Release the trip reset button.
9. Start the car verify that the light is out.

If thi does not work, and it should, please get back to me.

Resetting maintenance light for toyota yaris

Turn the key on.

Observe the odometer

Is it displaying ODO/total miles traveled? If not, depress the trip reset button until ODO is displayed

Key off

Press & hold the trip reset button, keep pressing it until advised to release it.

Key on

Observe the odometer display

you should see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1, and then 5 zeros, and then the mileage you started with.

Release the button.

You are done,

If you do NOT see 5 dashes, 4-3-2-1, set the trip meter to "trip 'A'"
and retry as instructed above. Some Toyotas use either method.
