How do I unstick the button on the handbrake of my vr commodore

some times the release button gets stuck in the handle, you may need to pull it apart or lube it. Does the spring feel broken? "I had a problem with the button sticking in a VR. I sprayed some silicon lube in the gap around the button, levered it back out with a screw driver and it never stuck again." last comment >

How do I unstick the button on a vr commodore handbrake

you may have to remove the handle from the car so that you can fix the problem. Probably a broken spring under the button

When i pull the ebrake and then release it its staying on i have replaced the handle and the main cable from the front to the rear and its still sticking what do i do???? Thanks Travis

adjustment is out, start at rear brakes inspect cable action with wheel off and observe action when handle is engaged. it might have a broken spring there, the handle also has a spring., release brake and use screw driver to push back brakes ,take slack out of line at adjuster and that should be your adjustment. if it gets stuck again its at the brake caliper, wheel cylinder or hardware depending on make and year of car.

Why does my jaguar xk8 stiil roll when in park

If you're trying to hold it on the auto transmission alone, then the transmission brake bands need adjusting or even replacing. If it's rolling when the handbrake (parking brake) is applied, then the handbrake needs adjusting or needs new pads.

The car should never be parked and held on the transmission alone; the handbrake should always be the primary means of holding the car from moving.

Both of these jobs are routine maintenance tasks but are not ones for an inexperienced mechanic.

The handbrake on my 1997 audi a4 avant 1.8 petrol sport slips back down, the handbrake is having the desired effect however as you raise the arm (without depressing the button) there are no clicks and it...

This sounds like the paul spring inside the brake handle broken which would, if this is the case be very cheap to fix. Otherwise, the ratchet quadrant could be worn out from not pressing the button whilst appling the brake. In this event both the paul and quadrant have to be replaced. Not really an expensive job. Maybe an hour labour plus parts.

Handbrake sticking on golf ,

if its the handle assembly thats sticking could be linkage problem. If its at the wheels could be a caliper is starting to sieze if rear disc brakes, if drums brakes parking brake arm could be rusty or weak release/return springs in drums.

1995 Subaru Legacy Handbrake knob broken off

It appears if you remove the pin in the lower in of the handle, you can remove the spring and then re-insert a new button. Try and get this part from a junkyard before the dealership....might be a cheap part from them or maybe they want $50 for it....either way, you should be able to replace this yourself.
