Most likely maintenance. If the fluid is low or very used it will cause shift t issues. Tech note if you are already losing gears just changing the fluid may not solve the problem. I recomend you tyake it to a trans shop for proper check out.

You may have a failed transmission or a failed shift solenoid pack, testing is required to determine exact cause.

I have a 1995 nissan max that has a problem with when u take off ur fine but when u shift into third u lose all ur gears but the clutch is fine so what do you think

Is it a Manual trans? Im guessing by the description that it is. If it is, Your transmission is broken. I dont know the exact part that is damaged but does the trans only work in 1st? If that is the case then part of the gears that make up the trans are not connected to thier shaft any more. Have you got 4th gear. That is normlly a direct drive from the front to the back of the trans.
If your trans is an auto then there are several things that can make that happen. There are electronics on the trans that control parts of the shift process. It could have a computer problem, a solinoid problem, or even have a blown out clutch pack. Finally it could be a planetary gear set that has broken. I dont know all of the quirks with this model but what your describing is serious.
Hope that Helps a little...

95 maxima not moving after putting into gear

Sounds like you may want to check if one of your cv axles has popped out of the transmission(usually the driver's side because the right on is bolt into a support bracket).

My 95 nissan maxima shifts hard from first to second then shifts good the rest of the gears

Look into issues with the throttle position sensor, i had the same problem with a 95 se. The sensor is directly responsible for shift intervals as it gives the ecm throttle position which doesnt go hand and hand with rpm. Sometimes the sensor needs adjustment, however this is not recommended if you dont have a scan tool to reset your ecm. check this page out

It should be on the top of the engine, normally under the intake towards the back of the engine, get the new sensor first so you have a visual reference of what the connector looks like

95 nissan maxima runs rough

i would change the knock sensor first. if that doesn't fix the problem then a complete tune up would be the next step. but if the sensor has no resistance that is where i would start
