Hi My heater and air con has stopped blowing

Hi!!

Let's start with the basics, check blower motor and AC fuses and relays, also take a visual check to the wiring going to the Blower Motor (Firewall, passenger side). Look for broken wires and loose electrical terminals.

Let me know how it went.

Good Luck!!!

Water leak coming from back of engine. 1998 BMW 318i 1.9

Hi, on these engines they have a plastic elbow at the back of the cylinder head that gat brittle and break inside the head, it may look ok but it would be a good place to start to look for a coolant leak as this is quite common. regards mark.

My car is overheating and the heater is blowing cold air

Try bleeding it.  It takes more than one time to bleed a bimmer's system.  No heat from the heater simply means that water have not made it through your heater core yet (mostly air).  But on the other hand, you mentioned air escaping out of the radiator cap.  I'm doing research for my own for the same cause.  Someone mentioned earlier that it's a symptoms of bad head gasket.  I'm still searching that.
