SOURCE: a ned positon cables fron distribuidor to

1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 firing order

Cylinder 1 it the furthest forward in the engine compartment. That bank is drivers side 1 3 5 7 Passenger side is 2 4 6 8

You did mark #1 when you took it apart right?

If not, remove coil wire from distributor and ground. (IMPORTANT ALWAYS GROUND THE COIL SECONDARY LEAD) remove #1 spark plug. Turn engine over by hand. When you hear the whoosh that's #1 compression stroke. Line up timing mark to 0 Degrees. Remove distributor cap. Wherever the rotor is pointing, that is #1 cylinder. Crank engine to determine direction of travel of rotor (clockwise probably) Next cylinder will be #8 next will be #4 next will be #3 next will be #6 etc. just follow listed firing order.

After repair is complete reconnect coil wire.

Cruise control not working

The adjustment of the brake light switch or it could be bad. the brake lights can work fine and the part of the switch that works the cruise doesn't The swiches that control it from the steering wheel can losse connection in a part called the clock spring. Vacume connections can effect the cruise but yours is likly cables less therefore doesn't work the cruize.

Cruise control not working when it was it seammed to make the motor run very ruff when i disengaged it by using brake pedal

If the cruise control makes the engine seem to run very rough until disengaging it, there could be a problem with the engine itself. As, most cruise control systems just pull on the throttle cable to maintain speed on the highway based on setting the speed with the button.

So, I would look into the engine maybe having an issue with spark plugs, or wires, or another tuneup or mechanical issue.

Can't find where the spark plugs are located

The 2003 Kia Sorento with 3.5L V6 has the spark plugs located under black plastic covers in the center channel of each cylinder head. Several brackets, cables, and hoses must be moved out of the way to access them. The manufold air intake tube needs to be removed on the right bank.
The left cylinder bank has coil-on-plug assemblies while the right bank has more conventional spark plug caps with sealing assemblies to keep dirt/moisture out of the spark plug wells. The coil-packs are held with two 10mm bolts each and are difficult to get to. Use universal-joint sockets and an extension.

Takes about  2.5 hours to R/R spark plugs. The average do it yourself'er will take longer (usually). All electrical plugs are color-coded and/or indexed so it's pretty difficult to screw it up. The cruise control actuator cable is in the way on the left bank. Twisting the cable elbow upright releases it from the actuator allowing it to be bent sideways to gain clearance.

Good luck and hope this helps.
