Odd right? Sometimes the scan tool fails. If you are running lean then maybe te knock sensor has something to do with it. But in this case you will have to deal with the transmission solenoid for it's not responding. If I were you I'll deal with the transmission first.

P0333 - Knock Sensor 2 Circuit High Input Bank 2. The knock sensor is attached to the cylinder block. It senses engine knocking using a piezoelectric element. A knocking vibration from the cylinder block is sensed as vibrational pressure. This pressure is converted into a voltage signal and sent to the Powertrain Control Module or Electronic Control Module.

The code is triggered by an excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to Powertrain Control Module or Electronic Control Module.

Possible Causes:
- Knock sensor circuit short to GND.
- Knock sensor circuit short to PWR.
- Knock sensor circuit open.
- Damaged knock sensor.
- Powertrain Control Module

Possible Solutions:
- Repair or resecure harness or connector
- Replaced knock sensor

If intake is removed for inspection, does the intake gasket have to be replaced?


in general any joints that are disassembled should have a new gasket, if there was one there. This applies to nearly all cases including rubber gaskets. The only exception would be hard plastic spacers in the joint, unless cracked.

You might get away with re-use, and a coating of gasket cement, but not guaranteed.

Knocking noise


Mechanical wear on engine, incorrect valve timing, lack of oil.
Knock sensors are detecting engine knocking so sensors not at fault. Ignore fault codes and deal with the noise.

Hi there,
Code P0333: Knock Sensor 2 Circuit High Input (Bank 2)
Probable Causes:
  1. Sensor or solenoid faulty
  2. Connector terminal contact is damaged or corroded
  3. Wire harness - Check harness for correct voltage, open, short to ground or short to voltage
  4. Update control unit software - Check for the latest control unit update
  5. Powertrain or Engine Control Module faulty



Note: ECM's rarely fail, so never replace the ECM, unless you are absolutely certain it has failed.

Knock sensor location


It is not a bad knock sensor necessarily, no code indicates a part is defective just that a problem exists in that circuit, this is where do it yourselfers get into problems. Have it properly diagnosed by the book on special equipment.
