2000 kia shift lever not in sync with position indicator

I just replaced the engine and transmission as one unit into my 2000 Kia Sephia. Now, I have to hold shift lever all the way forward to get it in park. All other gears are not ligned up with their positions on the console. Is there a linkage adjustment? Thanks

2000 Kia Sephia engine runs fine, but does not move in drive, low or reverse

Never heard of a transmission control reset, but after much research, I found they can be reset by removing both battery terminals, then touching both terminals together for 5 to 10 seconds, then seperate and reattach the terminals to battery. Evidently the transmission control has an internal memory. Try that first, then i sould suspect transmission control module. the control module controls every aspect of transmission shifting. Hope that helps!
