I would contact this mechanic and tell them to come by your house or have it towed to them and fix this issue because you should not be driving vehicle when wires are not connected correctly it could cause misfire , buildups and fuel fowling. If driven to much can do long term damage to engine. CALL THIS PERSON OR PLACE RIGHT AWAY. I would then observe my vehicle after fix to make sure no damage was already done . If so I would persue repairs at there cost.

The O2 Sensor is located on the drivers side rear...He probably disconnected to get to the rear plugs, and forgot to re-connect...See if they match...is the check engine light on? If you paid to much, do not hesitate to take it back to your mechanic...

If you can't rotate the motor, you've got bigger problems than spark plugs.

#1 cylinder is the left front as you are standing in front of your Lumina...this is a very reliable motor...are you changing plug wires? Confirm the firing order from your local parts store...hope this helps...:)

How in the world do you replace the rear spark plugs? How do they do it at the dealership? No room for an extension?

You have to roll the engine forward. Undo both top motor mounts (dog bones) at the engine. Put the car in neutral. You should notice on the mount a bolt hole on the bottom in the center. Hook a pry bar in the mount bracket on the passenger side and pull the motor forward. Have some one slide the bolt back in the drivers side mount, thru the smaller hole in the mount, while you hold the engine forward. Now the engine will stay forward so you can get to the plugs.

Spark plugs difficult to replace

The engine does need to be shifted to replace the rear plugs, but it is easy. Take out the dogbone engine mount in the front of the engine compartment and push the vehicle backwards while still in park , then throw the parking break on once the engine tips forward.

How are the spark plugs actually numbered in a 1998 chev. lumina

Looking from the front of the car, left side (drivers) the plug closest to you is #1
#2 is the closest to you on the right side.
#3 is the second on on the left
#4 is the second on on the right
#5 is the next on the left
#6 in the next on the right.

Check that you're getting spark to your plugs and fuel to your injectors. If so, my first guess would be to check your timing belt.
