Question about 1993 Subaru Legacy
I had a cop stop me and tell me one brake light was stuck on. But it only happens with the head lights or parking lights are on. Otherwise the brake lights work fine.
Should be on with headlights. They are called tail lights if only one on you have one bulb blown.

Testimonial: "Not tail light, brake light and it only stays on when the headlights are on. Other than that it works fine. when the lights are off they both work fine, strange."

either the headlight switch is defective or the dimmer is, it can't be anything else, do the hi beams work ok, have you tried wiggling the dimmer switch to see if the low beams flicker?

SOURCE: park lights stay on
Look on the column up high. Subaru's (Legacy and Loyale have Parking/Standing lights. I hit mine without knowing it!!. A buddy figured it out. Silly me.

First you should drive over to your auto parts store and have them tell you what codes come up so I can be of better help. AutoZone and Advance both do this for free. I don't want to give poor info, or offend your repair person before knowing what codes come up. Just let me know and I will se if I can help you. Have a good day.

Get under the dash ad look at your brake pedal lever. You will see a stop light switch that screww into a bracket with a 'button' sticking out of it. if pulling up on the brake pedal (even slightly) solves your problem, then the switch needs adjusting closer to the brake lever. If adjusting does not stop problem then replacement of brake light switch may be required.

your brake lights also run through the turn signal switch, if the shifter was on the column and you pulled the steering wheel off
