Question about 2002 Audi TT

Audi TT 225 aircon condenser slight leaking from top.

There is a slight leak from the top, there is no corrosion, there is a hex type nut on top could it be tightened and if not treated can it cause any problems other than the obvious lack of aircon?

Hi Andy
As Roger said take it to an AC specialist and have it checked, it will probably need re-gassing. AC gas leaks show up as an oily substance.

Hi
if the air con is leaking it will not be too long before the gas will have all escaped. This leak will then allow air and moisure into the system which will cause more damage very quickly. Why not go to your local auto store and buy a gas refill with sealant. If its not an o ring seal that has been damaged, the regas will sort it out.
If you dont feel confident, get a quote from your local trusted Garage.
When the gas has reached a set low pressure the compressor will not operate....safety sytem to save it from damage. Your car will still work as before, but with no air con.
Cheers
Roger

SOURCE: boost(?) problem audi tt

It is probably either the N75 valve(Diverter Valve) or the wastegate actuator. Usually a significant boost leak will set a DTC, still check all hoses and clamps.

A bad wastegate actuator or flap would cause no boost but not necessarily the air-sound.

Testing N75

Air Bypass Valve: Testing and Inspection
With Generic Scan Tool
Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve, Checking
Recommended special tools and equipment e.g.:
- VAG1526 multimeter or VAG1715 multimeter
- VAG1594 connector test kit
Test sequence
- Switch ignition off.
- Disconnect connector at solenoid valve for boost pressure regulation.
517f5c6.jpg - Measure resistance between terminals of valve.
Specified value: 25...35 Ohm
If specified value is not obtained:
- Replace Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve -N75-.

Testing N249

Exhaust Bypass Valve: Testing and Inspection
With Generic Scan Tool
Recirculating Valve For Turbocharger, Checking
NOTE:
Valve opens between connection to intake manifold and connection to deceleration shut-off valve with no voltage. Connection to vacuum
reservoir is closed.
Test sequence
- Switch ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249-.

9dfbfb9.jpg - Measure resistance between terminals of valve.
Specified value: 27...30 Ohm
If specified value is not obtained:
- Replace Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249-.
If specified values are obtained:
- Connect test box to control module wiring harness, connect test box for wiring test.

1a741bd.jpg - Check wire between test box socket 105+2-pin connector terminal 2 for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wire resistance: max: 1.5 Ohm
- Also check the wire for short circuit to B+ and Ground (GND).
If no malfunctions are found in wire:
- Check wire between 2-pin connector terminal 1 and the Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17- for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wire resistance: max: 1.5 Ohm
If no malfunctions are found in wires:
- Replace Engine Control Module (ECM).

To test the wastegate, locate the wastegate linkage rod and verify that there is no play and that it is closed. You can apply compressed air to the actuator to see if it opens and closes. (not more than 30 psi)

SOURCE: removing turbo from audi tt 225 quattrro

Yep, it is possible to get turbo off without pulling engine. I had a TB break at 85000 miles and did the repair at home (2 bent exhaust valves, 1 intake valve). Getting the turbo disconnected from the exhaust manifold was the single toughest part of this repair. It is attached with 3 reduced head socket bolts (appear to made from stainless steel). Eventually had to drive out one of the bolts...

Hi, My audi tt 2000 is leaking oil above the oil filter. It is at the top of the silver box like part that the oil filter screws into. It looks like a seal has broke or a gasket has broke. Any help...

The oil filter has a rubber gasket attached to the end that comes in contact with the filter housing on the engine. If the filter was screwed on with a dry gasket, or overtightened, the gasket could be damaged and leaking. It could be the filter is not tightened enough.

1996 audi a4 aircon problem

You have a leak most likely, and these are typically hard to spot without test equipment. Take it back to your technician and ask him to recharge the system and perform a dye test to locate the leak. Could be as simple as a bad o-ring in a fitting, or as complicated as a seal in the compressor.

Boost leak on 225 tt

Either one of your valves isn't reconnected/reassembled properly or something else came apart . . . the procedures below will help you locate the leak which is a useful place to start.

Looking under the front bumper there is an intake air line that has two rubber couplers - one on either end. I'd check those as they are attached with simple hose clamps that can easily come off. Of course check your air filter box - it's remarkably easy to put it back together slightly out of kilter - and you'll lose your boost there too. If you are daring and have a friend you trust dearly to "drive":

1: Chock the backside of the rear wheels with real wheel chocks.
2: Set ebrake firmly.
3: Open the hood and start the car.
4: Put into reverse and "load" the engine by applying some throttle, some clutch, and as much brake as possible. The car should not move. The load should jump up your boost.
5: At the same time as #4, somebody should inspect under the hood for escaping boost. It should be quite obvious.
