Clean the battery posts the starter connections and the starter relay, replace the starter relay and problem should go away, it is located on the firewall passenger side connects to battery and then to starter and one wire goes to the key switch. Try this and I bet your troubles are over.

My geo prism runs good days at a time then it wont stay running sometime, what is the problem?

Have you had a tune up lately. Spark plugs, plug wires, distributer cap, rotor button, air filter, and maybe fuel filter?

I am having hesitation when start of acceleration. Already changed plugs, fuel filter

I had the same problem. New plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, MASS airflow sensor cleaned and still it would hesitate. It seemed to get worse when warm. Sunday I fixed the problem. Take the distributor cap and rotor off. Under the rotor there is a metal plate held on by two screws. Take the plate off, this will expose the optical Cam sensor. I took a can of MASS airflow cleaner (Plastic safe)(can buy at advanced auto parts) and sprayed heavily. Once it was dry I put it all back together and it runs like new.

96 jeep cherokee, inline 6 4.0... runs fine... after shut off (5-10 mins) acts like its chokeing out, wont start acts like its missing, no combustion (fuel injected) let sit for 20 mins, fires up fine......

Try the pick-up coil that is under the distributer cap.Remove the cap and rotor button then remove the plate that is under the rotor button.Next you need to take off the relucter wheel that is in the way so you can take out the bolts and remove the pick-up coil.
