SOURCE: valve cover gaskets leaking, how to

this is a preaty easy job if you dont have to much to remove it get to it.. i havent change them on a isuzu but they are all about the same make sure you get everything you need first at the auto store, tell them what you are doing and they can get you the proper replacment gaskett.. some folks like the glue gaskett comes from a tube you just squeese in place. some the fabric gaskett whitch is pre-cut and lays in the gaskett cover when you replace it. ether way the cover will need to be scraped clean and the surface on the motor where the gaskett and cover sitts will need the same done. [ razor blade works good] this takes the longest to do but has to be done well to insure a good seal when replacing the cover after all thats why you are doing this it leaks. if you have never done this before i suggest go to youtube.video. type in VALVE COVER GASKETS and watch a few videos this will tell you if its something you want to do yourself .there are alot of ones to watch and dont worry if they are not doing it on the exact kind of car you have they are all the same concept. if you have to remove alot of things and you have a digital camera just take a before picture so when your putting things back together if you need to refure to the pics you know where they went. i dont think youll have this problem with this project it was something i did when i started working on cars to help me remember. i hope you find this info helpfull

Bad head gasket, burnt/stuck valve, or bad piston rings. Do a compression test. None are worth fixing in a high mileage car. It only creates other problem.

How old are the spark plugs and wires. GM vehicles are great runners until something goes wrong with the typical spark or fuel delivery issues. Wires or fouled plugs may not set off the computer, it will just run crappy.

Oil in the sparkplug hole

O-ring seal for spark plug are leaking. Located under valve cover.
To replace them,
1.unplug spark plug wire from spark plug.
2.remove valve on top of engine, by loosing the 5(10mm) bolts and disconnecting air hose.
you might have to use a pry bar to pry valve cover off.
3. flip cover upside down and you'll see that there's one o-ring per spark plug hole. remove them and install new one. You might want to replace valve cover gasket too.

Oil around spark plugs on 1992 honda accord

Yes the oil can cause the car to lose spark, the oil leak could be caused by the valve cover gaskets around the spark openings, but 9 times out of 10 it is the spark plug tube "O" rings. The top of the valve train comes off of the head, the "O" rings are between the two halves, that will fix the oil leak.

Spark plug change

Well i wouldent of thought you need to take off the valve cover AKA (rocker cover) to change spark plugs. spark plugs are usally set at a touque setting at 10 to 15 NMs (newton meters). if you do have to take off the valve cover the gasket can be re-used no O-rings needed.

Valve cover gasket leaking

When you buy the valve cover set, it will include the spark plug well "O" rings. Simply remove the valve cover and on the underside of the valve cover, you'll see the "O" rings that need replaced and you'll see exactly how the valve cover gasket itself fits.

Spark plug well filling with oil.

a new valve cover gasket and o-rings around the wells should have cured this...did you clean the old o-rings off the valve cover completely before installing new ones? this is a common problem with these models.....i would re-check my gaskets and mateing surfaces. valve cover gaskets and spark plug well o-rings are relatively low cost. the spark plug is tight, correct? write back with an update!
