SOURCE: im going to get a used tranny from a junk yard.

usually you get transmission from cars that have avg life mileage and have been totalled by the insurance and parted out, so if the car was just involved in a wreck, the transmission should be o.k. for at least another 50k, i had to do the same thing with one of my cars the tranny cost me $600 ten years ago, so you get what you pay for..there should not be a burnt smell, and fliud should be nice and red. if black, i would be suspect that it was never maintained, shy away from that. Black usually could mean a lot of wear on the clutch plates. you could also, if you find one that you think is good, and the junk yard allows it ...drop the pan and look for metal savings, if there's a lot, dont buy it. Usually you will see a "tiny" little bit, this is normal wear on and older car. if you liked this info, could you rate this answer. Thanks.

SOURCE: im buying a motor at the junk yard it has 98000

It is illegal to change the Cluster or modify the odometer reading , unless the mileage on the cluster in your car now is documented, the mileage and date of the new cluster when installed is also documented. You do not have to change the cluster just because you change the motor. The mileage only is there for the vehicle not for the engine. Hope this helps, Not sure if you were asking about the legal aspects. Cobra.. :-)

I need new motor mounts but don't want to pay $300 for them on my 2002 volvo s40 is it ok if I just buy some from a salvage yard is there anyway of looking at them and telling if they're good or not

A good salvage yard would not sell defective or known poor quality parts.
However..if they are splitting or cracking at all, walk away.

Most likely yes it will. Junk yards are a great source for that information simply call your local junk yard and they will tell you if it will fit ie mounts etc.

The back trunk of my car doesn't stay open. There are two rods that are situated in the trunk, as I had shown, in order to keep the trunk cover open. The rod is probably bent out of shape and that's w

I can't really tell from the video what should go where. Find another Nissan Sentra of the appropriate year. Try a used car lot, junk yard, Nissan dealer, or just stop one on the street and ask to see their trunk. When you see a Nissan with a working trunk, your solution should be obvious. Take your trusty camera along just in case. You may be missing parts, so the junk yard is probably my first choice.
Anyway, make your car look like the one that works and you should be good to go.

I have 1997 Expedition 5.4 motor is no good.I Need to know what to look for in a junk yard and make it faster engine.

Wouldn't you ask that question when you get
to the salvage yard

They have the inventory & all the data you need

You will be replacing the engine with the same thing
you have

If you want performance you have a local machine
shop rebuild yours & make a few changes

I wouldn't buy anything used for any product of
mine,never a motor vheicle

It is some elses worn out parts like yours

No such thing as good used

I have a 99 dodge grand caravan the air conditioning unit broke off the engine mount how do I get the mount off or is it all one piece of the engine.

First you are going to need an illustrated parts breakdown, this will help you understand what is broken, what you need, and how to go about replacing it. A dealer service desk will usually print you out the page you need at little or no cost, also you can buy one for the whole car on eBay. I would just get the one page myself. They are not going to have parts for anything over 10 years old and you do not want to pay new price anyway.

Armed with this illustration you need to find and visit some nearby junkyards, or recyclers as they are now called. They can quickly tell you how many Chrysler products have the exact same part in them, and whether or not they have any laying around in their yard. If not they can get online and find you another yard which has it.

Armed with your good used part, you take your car apart, replace that component and put it back together. Since vibration most likely caused the failure before, perhaps some new motor mounts would be in order on reassembly. Get the new mounts at a parts store, not a dealer. If the job looks beyond the scope of your tools and time, any shop will charge you a simple hourly rate to swap parts in and out. Again stay away from a dealer on this as they will charge you more than the thing is worth.

Seat will not go forward or back all other movements work can anybody help me

with all other movements working more than likely the forward reverse motor is bad
or possible bad switch test the switch first if it appears to be good replace motor or seat
being as u have to remove seat to be able to replace motor might be cheaper to get another seat out of a junk yard most junk yards wont sell u just the motor
so have two options buy new motor (probably dealer only item and expensive) or get a seat out junk yard(drawback to this is seat color might not match but seat covers are cheap)

I need a new rear bumper for my 2002 chevy monte carlo. what all do i need besides the rear bumper cover? is this expensive? where do i buy them for cheap?

you will need the bumper and the mounting bolts. A junk yard will be your best bet for cheap. look in the yellow pages and start calling around until you find a good shop that does the work for a fair price.

Alero engine replacement

If you can get a decent mileage motor from a car with rear end damage in a junk yard, that would be the way to go. The motor could be perfect. Some yards offer a 30 day warranty.
