Question about 2002 Buick Regal
My trunk is closed (confirmed) and the dash is telling me is open

There is a small plastic part on the pull down motor that comes in contact with the trunk lid latch. It is most likely broken off.

The latch on the deck lid needs to be clicked open so it can catch the striker. Try key to unlock and see if you can get the latch hook open.

i own a 92 Buick roadmaster and i had the same problem with mine. i had to disassemble the motor and then turn the gear to lower the hinge. now the trunk closes but i have to have someone help open it now due to no spinge in the trunk lid

either the latch is broken, repair parts will be needed, or the catch loosened and needs adjusting. does the trunk close with a motor? have you tried unlocking the trunk? maybe the latch is in the locked position or it's stuck in the latch position. if stuck, turn the key to unlock and pry with a screwdriver
