SOURCE: 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES Engine code

Two things to check: Had the same type of issue on my Mustang.

1. The coil might be bad.
2. Is the plug getting wet? If it is you need to track down the source and repare that.

My bet is on #1 though.

Try Cylinder leak down and compression test., you may have a bad valve seal,or bad valve itself. Then test the injectors may sure they are spraying what they should.

Typically if your control module is bad, you won't developed a "localized" misfire, meaning on just one or two cylinders. So rule out that you simply got a bad part. Have you done a routine tune up? Spark plugs, wires (or coils), fuel filter, etc.? Typically you're going to want to start with plugs when diagnosing a misfire condition, followed by wires or coils (if it has a coil on plug set up). If you haven't, try that first.

Number 3 and 4 are not firing from coil on 2002 subaru outback 2.5

its faulty coil.

Get the compression test done on each coil.these will let you know if its faulty coil or not.

=========

It can be issue with spark plugs or faulty spark plugs. Also get the compression test done for cylinders. If any of cylinder shows low compression then required, then that particular cylinder will cause misfire.

Also get obd codes scanned, the error code will let you know which cylinder is misfiring or all cylinders are misfiring.

01 montero sport 4x4 p0300 code random misfire very sluggish and idle is lower than normal. will come and go but is getting worse

DTC P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.

A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.

Symptoms may include:
the engine may be harder to start
the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
other symptoms may also be present

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plugs or wires
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector(s)
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
Faulty camshaft position sensor
Defective computer

Possible Solutions
If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF THE PO301 CODE?

The error code p0301 ,This code is related to misfire. The cylinder is misfiring. p0301 this is the indication of cylinder number 1 ,that is misfiring. If the code comes up as p0300 this is the indication of random misfire from all the cylinders. But in your case its indicating p0301 this is indication of cylinder 1 misfire.Check cylinder 1 and replace the faulty cylinder 1 to clear the fault. The spark plugs and the wires connecting to spark plugs also needs to be checked. Keep updated with any more query.Thanks.

Used seafoam in oil engine misfiring

determine when it misfires, and isolate cylinders. a poormans method is use an infrared temperature gun (one with high range, 700 degrees or more is preferable) and with engine held at rev(say 2500) point at each exhaust port 1 by 1, misfiring holes have colder exhaust than firing holes.
If the misfire is momentary or intermittant, or caused by defective cam or crank sensors, you should see professional help...those problems require more advanced equipment to get the 1st time, unless you dont mind lobbing expensive parts randomly till you get lucky

Shuddering going uphill 2001 mitsubishi montero sport

Most likely you have a misfire, I'd be surprised if it didnt turn on the check engine light. It may be a coil or sparkplg problem.
Do this this. With your foot on the brake hard and the ebrake on put the car in gear and rev the car up a bit. What your doing is putting a load on the engine to see if it shutters. If it does it points to a coil issue usually or it just may be time plugs and wires
