Question about 1997 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Most likely your c.d. player is defective. I would start by taking the cartridge out and making sure all the c.d.'s are installed correctly. next there is a reset button located near the electrical connector on the c.d. player. Remove the retaining screws from the bracket and pull c.d. player up and push in your reset button with a ball point pen and see if it starts to work. The message displayed in your head unit is just stating that there is a problem with the c.d. player- I'm assuming you have power to the player and it is attempting to work. After these steps if you get the player to respond clean with a disc cleaner to ensure proper reading in the future.
